One on One with Pastor Rich

Recently, I had a great
conversation with a fellow
Pastor in Los Angeles about the
shift we both feel in our
respective ministries. He said,
Rich, many people are not
about that life and it really
struck a chord in me. I began
to
think
about
that
colloquialism and what it really
means to be about that life.
What does it mean? I believe it
means to be fully committed
and engaged in a lifestyle that
does not need prompting or
external motivation.
I reflected back on different
aspects of my own life and the
times that I was about that
life. When I played sports, I

was about that sports life.

I
thought about different people
that I knew who were about that
life. How did I know they were
about that life? They were fully
engaged and totally committed to
that activity. They immersed
themselves completely into that
lifestyle. They committed time
and resources to improve in that
area.
They acquired the best
equipment, they received private
lessons, they travelled to various
conferences or trade shows
because
they
were
fully
committed and about that life.
Paul writes to the church at Rome
in the 12th chapter of Romans and
says, I urge you by the mercies of
God to present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God,
which is your reasonable service.
I believe if Paul were talking to the
21st century church he would say,
If youre going to be a Christian,
then BE ABOUT THAT LIFE! Jesus
was our perfect example of being
about that life in that He gave his
life for us.
So the question remains for
us..which life are we really
about?

PGS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

REAL TALK w/Bro. Jamir Grigsby
having enough
time and money
to do everything
that needs to be
done. But you
cant quit school
or work because
you need school to get a degree so you
can be a better provider for your family.
You cant quit work because you need
money to pay bills.

When Pastor gave me the member

spotlight selection for July, I must
admit I was intrigued. This was an
exciting opportunity to interview a
young boy Ive known most of his life,
and get to know about the man he is
becoming.
What better way to start off this
interview, than with Jamir in
excruciating pain caused by a tooth
ache. Despite the pain, Jamir was
fully engaged. In response to who
he admired most, it took a while
for him to answer the question. Truth
be told, he has no earthly role
models. I know this sounds clich,
but to be honest, its Jesus I admire
most. Of course there are great
people alive today that I look up to,
but I find fault with too many of the
past/present Role Models/Idols. I
know that sounds weird, but thats
just how I think. Nobody really, really
energizes/inspires me like Jesus does.
Hes the PERFECT example in all
aspects.
We all should strive to be perfect like
Jesus, but often times we fall short.
When asked about his Biggest
Mistake, I was pleasantly surprised
with his candor. Although Jamir loves
his child very much, he credits his
biggest mistake to having a child at
an early age, and not being more
focused when I was younger in middle
school and high school. I quickly
followed up with Whats your
biggest life lesson? Trust Gods
decisions. Trust Gods timing. Be
careful what you pray for.
When
asked
What
advice
would you give
your
younger
self? He replied,
Pay attention in

The type of father I want to be.A

loving and caring father, able to listen to
my kids when they have a problem. Be
the friend they need, but also being a
disciplinary father that is able to give
correction and discipline with love. Also,
being a good leader for them to follow.
Being that godly influence they need
and also their biggest supporter.

church. Really understand the

advice your parents are giving
you.
Watch who you hang
around. You dont need friends.
Sex can wait. Wow. I truly
appreciate his honesty.
Describe yourself in 10
words or less. Passionate,
creative, young leader, driven by
faith in Jesus Christ.
Whats the hardest part
about being
a young
father?
Ultimately, what
kind of father do you want
to be for your daughter?
The hardest part about being a
young dad is not

Where are you going in life? Where

would you like to see yourself at the age
of 30? I dont exactly know where Im
going in life because I dont know what
God has for me in the future. I know
where I want to see myself at 30 years
old. I would like to somehow make my
life an example for others to follow, a
life that makes people turn to God. Now
a days, I feel as if nobody wants to
believe in God because they feel like
there isnt any benefit to it. Not to say
that we should seek God for only
worldly rewards. This generation will
trust an opinion of a successful person
versus an option/testimony of someone
doing worst than or in the same position
as them. I want to be a godly CEO of a
very wealthy clothing company, while
also running a creative design studio. All
of the creative things that I love doing,
while being able to PROVIDE for my
family. Matthew 5:16 In the same way,
let your light shine before others, that
they may see your good deeds and
glorify your Father in heaven.
