A. Does the amount of water in the bottom of a rocket affect how far it goes.
B. If you add more water to the bottom of the rocket, then the rocket ill not go as
far because of the weight that the water added.
C. Data Table

The distance the rocket goes depends on the amount of water in the
bottom.

D. Controlled variables; Amount of pressure, same angle launched, same placement of

fins, same amount of water in top and same size of fins.
E. Materials needed for the experiment; Pop bottles (2-2 liter, 20 oz.), rocket launcher,
water, duct tape and cardboard.
F. Procedure;
1) Build Rocket using 2 pop bottles(1-2liter, 1-20 oz.) and duct tape
2) Make 4 fins(15 cm by11 cm) out of cardboard.
3) Make a hypothesis.
4) Fill the top of the rocket with 100 mL of water.
5) Fill the bottom of the rocket with 1000 mL of water.
6) Put rocket in rocket launcher.
7) LAUNCH ROCKET!
8) Record data

9) Repeat steps 5-8 9 more times with 0 mL of water in the bottom.
10)Fill the bottom of the rocket with 750 mL of water.
11) Put rocket in rocket launcher.
12)LAUNCH ROCKET!
13)Repeat steps 10-12 9 more times.
14)Repeat steps10-12 with 500 mL.
15)Graph your results.
16)Make a conclusion of your experiment.

Amount of water in the Rocket

G. Write a conclusion.
1. Does your data support your hypothesis? Why or why not? Our hypothesis was
incorrect. We had originally predicted that the more water we put in the rocket,
the less it would go. Our data proved us wrong. When we put 1000mL in the
bottom of the rocket, the average distance it went was 69m. When we put 500mL
in the bottom of the rocket, the average distance it went was 60m. So, we
conclude that the more water you put in your rocket(until a certain point) the
further it will fly.
2. What changes would you make if you did the experiment again and why? If we were
to do this experiment again, we would change a few things. First of all, after we
flew our rocket once, it crashed. The top of rocket was bent in a weird way and
we could never make it perfect again. So, I would make sure that none of the
bottles were dented or I would replace them if they were. I would also change
the way we put the rockets on the
