Those who suffer bitterly when slighted or insulted should

recognize from this that they still harbour the ancient
serpent in their breast.
If we quietly endure the insult or respond with great
Humility, we weaken the serpent and lessen its grip.
But if we respond acrimoniously or brazenly, we give it
strength to pour its venom into our heart and to feed
mercilessly on our guts.
In this way the serpent becomes increasingly powerful - it
