Short sound vowels


(pre-first 6 years)

Brain GYM: brain brake activity were they have to identify by their own the
short vowel sound of different words that are going to appear randomly on the
board

Warm Up: students pick up flashcards with words and they are going to act the
vocabulary word for the rest of the class.

Presentation: students watch video and repeat the short sound of the vowel in
each word.

Controlled Practice: Teacher show flashcards vowels and students repeat the
short sound after the teacher. Student will match the trace of the letter with
the word that goes with the trace .

Semi-Controlled Practice: students listen to some words, they have to
identify the short sound, stand up on the flash card of the vowel and repeat the
word after standing up on the flashcard

Free Practice: work sheet, write the letter that makes the middle vowel sound
in each word.

Wrap Up: students are going to classify the drawings depending on the vowel
sounds.
Closure: Thumbs Up - Thumbs Down, teacher is going to ask and say the short
sound vowel that the word have, all students respond with thumbs up if they
agree, down if they disagree, or sideways if they need an explanation of the
decisions.
Feedback: review short sound vowel of the key words
