INTRODUCTION

This document covers the structural stability of the glass balustrade

The overall height of the panel is taken as 882mm.The top rail consists of 82mm
dia SS pipe with both ends firmly fixed to the side walls.

1. Line load 0.74 KN/ m at along the top rail
2. Overall load of 1KN/ sqM on the infill
3. Pointed load of 0.5KN acting on centre of each panels

The system is analyzed using STAAD and the result obtained are given below

Considering the unsupported length of glass = 800mm
Allowable deflection in glass = Span/60 13.3mm ( AS 1288-1994)
Actual deflection < Allowable deflection Hence safe
