Conclusion 3 generations
There is a difference between the composition of the households when you
compare these with the families of past and present . The average family
now a days consists of an average of 4 or 5 people. The families were
bigger in the time of the grandparents and parents than now. Their
families had an average of 6-8 people and sometimes even 10 people.
The parents families were more or less 5-7 people.
Now a days we can talk about all topics in our home like school grates,
problems, sexuality and death. In the time of the grandparents the topics
of homosexuality were not for children they were bad to talk about and
death was a topic they didnt talk about. This was also because people
then were much more religious. In the parents family death was a topic
were you didnt talk about because it was a horrible thing those days.
Also we found out that our grandparents and parents helped a lot in the
house like cooking, washing, helping in the garden and on the farm. Now
this doesnt happen very often. We sometimes do the dishes and cleaning
our room. We have more technology to stay inside and do nothing but
15
gaming and playing on our phones. My parents were already happy when
they had a phone in their home or a computer to use. Our grandparents
did things like working in a factory and in a shop. Some grandparents
could work on the farm of their parents. Also grandparents often worked to
make some extra money like harvesting and working in factories.
Most grandparents liked to go to school but just couldnt go. It wasnt
allowed for girls to join college. Girls were supposed to stay at home and
take care of the household. They needed to go to the household school. In
almost all grandparents and parents families the mother stayed at home
and looked after the children and cleaned the house. The father worked
and made sure there was enough money to live from. The children went to
school and the boys went to study in college and universities.
The thing that did go well and the things we had difficulty with.

Our conclusion from the interview was that it was very different. One of
the difference was: how the roles were divided. By the grandparents
the mothers all stayed at home. Took care of the children and the
housework. By the parents some of the mothers worked. The size of the
families that was also a difference. Also a big difference was that the
grandparents couldnt talk about sexual topics and the death. That was
something you didnt discuss with children. In the time of the parents
were children they could talk about a lot more.
