HEDONISTIC SUSTAINABILITY

-Defined as sustainability that improves the quality of life and human enjoyment ,
hedonistic sustainability is touted as the latest and most exciting evolution in
the green movement . It challenges this misconception that sustainability means sa
crifice.
-Hedonistic sustainability proves that design and architecture can be economical
ly profitable as well as environmentally sustainable. So, basically, Bjarke Inge
ls captures aesthetics, human happiness, architecture, and ecology together in h
is project by adopting hedonistic sustainability.
-Taking a big picture view, hedonistic sustainability is what happens when you s
top thinking about buildings as structures and start thinking about them as ecos
ystems. When buildings are part of ecosystems, they can be used to help create a
closed loop for recycling energy, minimizing your environmental impact and crea
ting positive side products like a higher quality of life.
-What Hedonistic Sustainability does is transform the whole sustainability movem
ent into something very youthful, dynamic and egalitarian. It proves that design
and architecture can be economically profitable as well as environmentally sust
ainable. You no longer need to compromise when it comes to going green.
-Think for a second what the term "sustainability" currently conjures up - a not
ion that you are somehow compromising and accepting hardship for the sake of a g
reater good. For example, you plunk down cash for an electrical vehicle, but rea
lize deep down that you're probably compromising on speed and performance. Or, y
ou buy environmentally-friendly clothing, but realize that you're probably givin
g up a certain amount of fashion and style. But what if you can truly have it al
l? What if you can do something that is good for the environment, while doing so
mething good for yourself and for the economy?
