Middle School Science Project help:

Please help us look for the following in your fields & woods.

As a STEM project for the girls in our three families, we assembled and launched a heliumfilled, HIGH-ALTITUDE BALLOON Sunday
morning, 6/19. The balloon trailed a small
Styrofoam container that had a camera that
would take photos of near-space, where you can
see the curve of the earth.
We launched near Ephrata, PA, and followed the
balloons ascent (by radio telemetry) to 110,500
ft, where the balloon bursts. Then, the payload
descends under the control of a parachute (red- &
blue-colored in photo to the right).
We followed its decent down to ~2,500 ft, where we
lost contact. Its last position was quite near N.
McDermott Rd and Buckwheat Rd. it is likely
somewhere in nearby fields & woods.
It might be lodged up high in the tree canopy, or it
might have landed in brush or field. If you see a
~ 1 foot by 1 foot styrofoam box, please do not be
alarmed it is our payload. We really would love
to retrieve it, as the camera should have stunning
photos. The outside label has our contact
information (also below). Besides the Styrofoam
container, there might be a red and blue
parachute, remnants of the beige-colored balloon,
and a foil reflector also about a foot square. If
you find any of these things please do call! Thank
you SO MUCH!!
