NEWS UPDATE FROM 2012


January 2012 to June 2012
We were given the status of a Charity and a Charitable
Trust by the HMRC (Her Majestys Revenue and
Customs) in January 2012.
We are pleased to announce that our operations are
now running in the following areas:
Wattala, Agalawatta, Panadura, Kalutara, Wadduwa
and Dompe
We are happy that we managed to give grants to 20
families in its first month of operation.
We also had a kind donation of books in Sri Lanka
from Mrs Chandra Liyanage and we distributed them
to 13 school children that made sure they have the
books and equipment for their school year.
July 2012
We shipped a lot of children and adult clothes,
shoes and bags through Glen Carriers in Acton after
receiving a large amount of donations of items from
the following people:
- Sunil and Sriyani Jayasuriya
- Nalin and Manjula Perera
- Anura and Devika Perera
- Chithra and Jayantha Wewalwala
- Wimla Lord
- Manesh and Dashni
- Mallika Perera
These were distributed for the needy in Sri Lanka in
August 2012.
Thank you very much for all who helped achieve this.

October 2012
We received a large donation of clothes and shoes by
Milni Gunasekara who is now 8 years old. The items
are for children aged 1-7 years.
We shipped the items along with some soft toys, adult
clothes and bedsheets in October 2012 and hope to
distribute these in Sri Lanka in December.
Thank you Milni and her parents Sunila and Salinga for
their kind donation.
A big thank you to Mr Anura Hegoda for picking up
the goods in Sri Lanka.
November 2012
We are happy to inform you that we are now regularly
supporting 28 families with monthly grants. These
families include poor children and young adults, children whose parents/siblings are suffering with cancer
or other major illness, children with a single parent,
adults with no support from family and adults with
illness who are unable to support themselves - All who
are struck by poverty.
We receive extremely grateful feedback from all the
beneficiaries and wed like to thank all our regular
donors for their kind support.

Our non-regular donors in 2012 were

December 2012
We distributed books to the students we support in
the Wattala region. The items were 11 exercise books;
2 x pencils; 1 x ruler; 1 x rubber for each student.
They will be able to use these books for the new
school year in January 2013.
Finances
Since the start of collection of donations in January
2012, we have received 3483.50 up to December
2012. (Voluntary donations 2975.50 + Gift aid 508)
Our charity expenditure was 2808.90
(Charitable donations to beneficiaries = 2626.50
Sri Lankan Rs.525,300 aprrox + Money transfer fees
97.90 + Shipping fees 84.50)
Our financial year ends on 5 April 2013 and you will
be able to view the full Income and Expenditure
Report then.
All our beneficiaries sign the charity Beneficiary Payment Record form when they collect money each
month. This is safely kept with all our representatives
in Sri Lanka. Should you wish to see any of these
forms, please contact the charity.

We would like to thank the management team and


their families for their immense support offered to our
charity. It is not possible without their dedication to
find the beneficiaries that need our support and also
to monitor their progress to ensure that the donations
are being used the most efficient way.
