In this day, I did my research. Today is my first observation in MTS
Roudlotusysyubban Pati especially in Class VIII A. Mr.Baihaqi Zainuddin taught in
that class was started at 08:20 AM. I went to school at 06:30 because I was promised
to Mr. Baihaqi Zainuddin that I could attend early before the teacher came to the
class. The teacher and I entered the class together at 08:20. After the teacher opened
the class, the teacher introduced me to all the students and the teacher also gave me a
time to tell about myself and my purpose came to this school. Then, the teacher asked
me to sit on the behind of the students. I can and I know all the teaching learning
process in the class.
Today Mr. Baihaqi Zainuddin taught speaking material. The teacher start
again to opened the class by saying Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi
Wabarakatuh and the students answered by Waalaikumussalam Warahmatullahi
Wabarakatuh the teacher said good morning students, how are you today? the
students answered fine thank you, and you? the teacher answered Im fine, too.
After opening the class the teacher gave the students motivation to study hard,
because Final Examination would come. The teacher checked the students
attendance and she asked the students to open the book. The teacher asked the
students are you ready to start our meeting today? The students answered yes sir.
The teacher asks the students to read the students hand book on page six , with the

topic Teenage Life, and He asked to read the simple Narrative text with the title
Stevens Problem, the teacher said by English directly and explained to the students
that they must to discuss and remember and the teacher want to asked some students
to explain that story. The teacher also asked the students some questions about
Stevens problem.
Before continue the lesson the teacher explain and give the explanation about
narrative text and how to ask some question in problem solving. The teacher also
gave some expression to asking and answering the question in that material. After that
the teacher ask the students to make questions about that text, and after that the others
would be answered that questions. This material is aim to the students to try before
they got a final assignment from the English teacher about story telling. Here, the
teacher is so communicatively because the teacher gave warming up for the students
to read first by teachers assistance. The teacher asked the students to read the text
again carefully, while asking them to remember again about how the way the teacher
read the text, about how he pronounced the text and how he applied the intonation
within the text. After that the teacher gave the example how to retell the text. The
teacher gave the rule about how to opening the presentation, how to present or
conclude it become indirect speech and how to close the presentation. The teacher
also gave the way to remember it in a short time, by paragraph to paragraph.
On the first meeting in the observationn, the teacher did not only teach
speaking to the students but also teach writing. However, the teacher concerned more
on the students speaking. After the teacher had conversation with the student, the
teacher had the students gather in their group. Each group consists of six students.
The teacher instructed them to write one problem that they had in a peace of paper.
After that the teacher asked the students to exchange of paper with their colleague.
The teacher asked the students to make a narrative text in their own, teacher trained
the students to be able solve the problem of their friend. While the students were
doing their task in their own, he guided them. She asked the students to start their

story with orientation. The teacher corrected the students pronunciation, choice of
words, and the use of tense.

The questions from the text are;


1. What does Steven do to resolve his problem?
2. When the Steven Problem does is coming?
3. What was he like two months ago?
4. What does the short message stand for?
5. \Why was his physical condition down?
The aim of this activity is to make students active and creative also have big
confidence and know each other. Here, the teacher used communicative language
teaching (CLT) to explain the material. Communicative language teaching is reflected
in teachers order to the students. Because the time was limited the teacher made that
task for home work. Before he made closing for that lesson, the teacher gave them
one example to solve their problem. The teacher ask one of them to read his friend
problem. After that the teacher gave solustion and sigestion for his problem. The
teacher asked the students there is questions or no. If there is no questions the teacher
would close that session.
Finally the electric bell rang. The teacher gave conclusion about that meeting
that describes what were they done today. After that the teacher gave motivation for
the students. Last, the teacher said wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
to finish the meeting. Then, the students answered it with waalaikumussalam
warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. The last the teacher said see you later, and the students
said see you. The teacher go out from the class and back to teacher office.

Topic : Second Observation
Informan : Mr. Baihaqi Zainuddin S.Pd
Place : Class VIII A
Time : 07:00-08:20
Today, I goto school for continue my research. Mr. Baihaqi Zainuddin teach at
07:00 AM. I arrive in the school at 06:45. Mr. Baihaqi Zainuddin came to the class at
07:00 AM. After the students were ready to study, the teacher said assalamualaikum
Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. The students answered waalaikumussalam
Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. The teacher said good morning, the students
answered good morning, and he also said how are you today?, the students
answered we are fine thank you, and you? the teacher answered fine too.
After opening the class the teacher checked the students attendance. If the
teacher call the name, the students answeres present or yes, I am. After that the
teacher gave an instruction for learning that day, the teacher tell that today is speaking
time for all the students. The teacher most using english in his communication to the
students, althought sometimes he has to translate some words that cant understand by
the students. The teacher gave the topic about traveling and holidays.
On this case, the teacher start to ask the students, to open the book. The
teacher gave stimulate to the students by some questions while explain about using
the direction on the right of/on the left of. He gave an explanation about the using
that direction. After that the teacher asked some students to read the dialogue in the
book in front of the class. In here the teacher as the facilitator made communication
between students and another student. the teacher did such kind of brainstorming to

attract the students attention toward the lesson that they would learn. He asked one of
the students to tell his holiday. The student told his activity on last Sunday orally. The
way how the teacher asked the student to tell his experience was by conducting
conversation with him.
On this session, the teacher still used the same activity, the teacher still used
the same activity. The teacher asked the students to read the text on the projector LCD
carefully, while asking them to remember again about how the way the teacher read
the teaxt, about how he pronounced the text and how he express within the text. The
teacher also asked them to try with their friends. . After that, He reviewed the story
that was just told by the students by delivering some questions related to the story.
Then the students actively answered those questions. Sometimes in answering those
questions, some students produced mistake on grammar but the teacher did not pay
attention more on it. She just corrected the mistake that was produced by the
student.The teacher gave the instruction to pay attention with the text that they got on
the Projector. After that the teacher gave them an explanation about the using of the
right of and the left of. The teacher paid attention more on the language rather than on
grammar (Hossen, 2008). Next, the teacher played a video which contains the. She
asked the students to note down some important things on the video. After that, she
gave some questions which were about the story on the video.
Then the students tried to be active in the class by answering those questions
orally. In this case, it can be seen that the way how the teacher taught English
language was in communicative way. Since in CLT approach the language is taught in
communicative way (Finocchiaro and Brumfit, 1983), the teacher tried to make the
students speak up by giving them some questions then the students tried to answer
them orally. Then the teacher gave detail explanation about recount text. It was about
the definition of recount text, generic structure of recount text, tense that is used in
recount text, and so on. After that, the teacher asked the students to try that
conversation or dialogue with their friend by looking the projector . They got task to

make a recount text about their activity on the last holiday. In this activity, the teacher
wanted to create a real situation in the class in order to make the students able to
speak in real communication.
The teacher asked the students to create simple recount text from their own
experience and present their work in front of the class. On this activity, the entire
developments of students activities based on the KTSP curriculum were complete. .
After the teacher had conversation with the student, the teacher had the students
gather in their group. Each group consists of six students. The teacher instructed each
group to choose one of their friends to be a writer. The teacher asked the students to
make a recount text in a group. While the students were doing their task in group, she
guided them. He asked the students to start their story with orientation. They
discussed and cooperated with their friends to create the story. After they finished it,
the teacher asked them to present their story in front of the class. Two representative
students of each group came to the front of the class to read their story. Then the
teacher gave comments and correction toward the result of their story. The teacher
corrected the students pronunciation, choice of words, and the use of tense. On this
session the teacher ask to the students their is a questions, after this the students help
the students to solve their problems with answering their questions.
Finally the electric bell rang. The teacher gave conclusion about that meeting
that describes what were they done today. After that the teacher gave motivation for
the

students.

Topic : Third Observation

Place : Class VIII A
Time : 08:20-09:40
Today, I go to the school for continue my research. Mr Baihaqi Zainuddin
teach at 08:20 until 10:35 . I arrive in the school at 06:30. Mr Baihaqi Zainuddin was
coming to the school because he was picket in that day. Before he taught in the
classroom he gave me some suggestion and gave me the material for that day.
That day Mr.Baihaqi Zainuddin decided to continue about describe picture in
order to make students more understand about the topic. When the time of 08:20 , the
teacher and I entered the class to continue the study. As usual I sat in the behind of the
students. The teacher start again to opened the class by saying Assalamualaikum
Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and the students answered by Waalaikumussalam
Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh the teacher said good morning students, how are you
today? the students answered fine thank you, and you? the teacher answered Im
fine, too. After opening the class the teacher gives the students motivation to study

In this section, On the third meeting on Wednesday 27 May 2016, the teacher
reviewed the previous explanation about recount text. He asked some questions about
recount text material to the students. In that chance the teacher tried to make the
students speak up by giving them some questions then the students tried to answer
them orally. After that, the teacher ask the students to open the book on page 24. The

topic is about Recreation. In here the teacher asked the students to read for
apperception about the narrative text with the tittle Holiday in Bali. After that the
teacher gave the students interaction to describe some pictures in the book. The
teacher asked about the place and building details, and some students answered. The
teacher asked about our capital city Jakarta. And some students gave the teacher
explanation about Jakarta.
That day the teacher continue to discuss about the topic Recreation. The
teacher asks the students to read the students hand book on page twenty six and
twenty seven about the visiting the zoo. In that day the teacher was not focus on the
hand book, but the teacher used LCD to explain the material. The teacher explain the
material directly and sometimes the teacher gave a stimulate to the students with a
questions and the students answer what the teacher want, like do you ever come to
the zoo? the students answer yes we do, can you mention what kind of animals in
the zoo? the students answer, lion, tiger, bear, etc. But the teacher wants to know
the kind of animal. With describing the picture, the teacher give example of animals,
between zebra and Lion, what differences between ccarnivores and herbivore.
In this section the teacher would like explain about describing picture with the
topic Visiting The Zoo. Firstly the teacher explain about the definition and the
example of decriptive text the teacher focus on animal. After that the teacher showed
the picture about animal, the teacher asked some students to answered the teacher
questions and the teacher gave the example to describe that picture. After that the
teacher also showed power point slides which contains animals picture. Each slide
shows a words the name of animal. After showing it, the teacher asked the students
about what are the picture on the power point. So in this part, the teacher taught
speaking to the students because the teacher practiced speaking with the students by
asking them some questions. Then the students answered it orally. Next, the teacher
asked each student to re-read aloud each sentence on the power point slide. If the
students made mispronunciation on their reading, the teacher would correct it.

.Then the techer call the students name to come foward and tell about the
picture that He had chosen. After that the teacher asked the students to describe one
of the animals that were explained by the teacher in front of the class, after that the
others ask some questions from the picture to the presenter. That day the teacher
made the class was life. The teacher also gives opportunity to the others students to
ask some questions to presenter. The aim of this activity is to make students active
and creative to asking and answering also has big confidence.
