Lesson Plan

Activate students prior knowledge by watching Brain Pop video on plants.


Go over vocabulary and read the book My Plant Can Grow Food by Claire
Repp. Go over Smart Notebook lesson on what plants need in order to grow.
Observe a young plant and write and draw what they observe.

DAY 3

Read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle and teach parts of a plant. Create a plant
using construction paper and label all the parts.
Plant a seed in ziplock bag. Make a flow map sequencing the activity.

DAY 4
Understand the lifecycle of a plant by completing a life cycle of a plant
worksheet (which requires sequencing of steps).
Observe and identify the plant in their habitat. Students will draw and write
what they observe.
DAY 5

Smart Notebook lesson on what plants give us
