Reflection:

Having the choice for my capstone focus was extremely rewarding because I was able to address an issue
immediately related to my students and the overall trend of math performance in certain students. If I could redo
project I would definitely work with the students more on their math identity, making that a weekly part of their
development. Student math disposition is vital in their decision-making when their in class. They use that
information to decide how they will approach the work which is normal but can have negative repercussions if t
students disposition is overwhelmingly negative. I spoke with a student once who told me I cant do math Im
black, which was her attitude. This was shocking to me, but that was her disposition that influenced her decisio
making.

In regards to the skill deficits I was pleased with the progress monitoring and standards based capabilities of
MobyMax. In a short period of time I learned a great deal about how to use the program, and would like to con
learning more about it in the upcoming school year. Again, if I could redo this project, I would tie in an incentiv
piece to reward students who work really hard in the program and hopefully in turn encourage others to treat it
seriously. It may also help to share accomplishments and let others know if a student has mastered a large numb
standards and showed significant growth. The idea would be to place emphasis on growth. I want my students t
understand that they have to face their math fears and know that if they work at it, they can get better.
