INTRODUCTION

From the time the Aklatang Panlunsod ng Dasmarias (APD) has been publicly
open, it has already served an estimate of two hundred fifty thousand (250,000) visitors
public and private school students, researchers, senior citizens, program participants, and
other guests.
Open from Mondays thru Saturdays, this 3-storey fully air conditioned learning
institution houses no less than thirty-two thousand (32,000) books, journals, periodicals,
theses, multimedia, and other educational materials. Such learning items are open for
public use, free of charge, permitted while inside the premises of the APD.

Significance of the On-the-Job Training

On-the-job training (OJT) is a form of training taking place in a normal
working situation. On-the-job training, sometimes called direct instruction, is one of the
earliest forms of training (observational learning is probably the earliest). It is a one-onone training located at the job site, where someone who knows how to do a task shows
another how to perform it. In antiquity, the work performed by most people did not rely
on abstract thinking or academic education. Parents or community members, who knew
the skills necessary for survival, passed their knowledge on to the children through direct
instruction.
On the Job Training is still widely used today. It is a frequently used method of
training because it requires only a person who knows how to do the task, and the tools the
person uses to do the task. It may not be the most effective or the most efficient method at
times, but it is normally the easiest to arrange and manage. Because the training takes
place on the job, it can be highly realistic and no transfer of learning is required. It is
often inexpensive because no special equipment is needed other than what is normally
used on the job. One drawback is that OJT takes the trainer and materials out of
production for the duration of the training time. In addition, due to safety or other
production factors, it is prohibitive in some environment. Even many researches show the
importance of the On the Job Training. For instance in a research conducted by Arun Paul
(2012) confirms the significance of providing social skills training to professional social
workers.

3
A large majority of employee learning is accomplished through on-the-job training. Well
designed OJT training programs are well planned and resourced, staff managers with
competent coaching ability, and define the criterion for performance standards.
Objectives of the On-the Job Training

The trainee aimed to:

1.
2.

on making all its acquisition available to readers after indexing, classifying and arranging
periodicals on the shelves. Older periodicals underwent the process of binding for
archiving and preservation to prevent them from tearing apart and then putting them on
the shelves as well as opening its reading rooms for researchers.
There are aspirations to index periodicals (indexing texts) to facilitate access to
the required information, effecting operation of gift and exchange with the libraries of
universities and private libraries and institutions to meet the shortage of periodicals or the
disposal of extra numbers, and the addition of new services such as the consolidated list
of periodicals and a list of monthly additions (the monthly periodicals bibliography).

Observed Strengths and Weaknesses of the Training Area

The trainee determined that strength are to handle and manage the time in periodical
,General Circulation and fiction section , accommodate all the clients needs . clients doing
the rules inside the library. The weakness are sometimes does not have unity and trust each
one. Because we know as a good employee or a leader we need help each other to be more
successful in our task .they need to create a big circle of friends to avoid misunderstanding
and enhance the lower of the voice .
Insights
The experience of the student-trainee at Aktang Panlunsod ngDasmarinas are to
communicate to other people effectively , enhance the communication skills . get together
with our new persons. Have a long patience in works, have a strong self confidence. Have
a strong determined in works .trainee believes that the aklatang panlunsod ng dasmarians
is going more successful .and effectives to all students in this world.
Problems Encountered
The trainee problem encountered is when all staff have a meeting during have a
lot of clients wants to borrow the books ..

Suggestions for Improvement

The trainee suggest is to avoid urgent meeting because as a trainee I need
someone to guide me and to answer all of my questions. I know to myself that I did not

15
know well all of the things in the library .Therefore I need someone or a guide in a library
that know all the works and can answer my questions.

SUMMARY

The on-the-job training (OJT) offered the student-trainee a period of practical

experience in the industry relating to her field of study. It was a valuable experience to
the student-trainee as a means of allowing her to experience how their studies are applied
in the real world.
Aklatang panlungsod ng Dasmarinas the student trainee of BS office
administration she learn a lot from their experience and knowledge. First of all as a OJT
student I would like to give thanks because of my OJT I learned to communicate with
others and to be a effective in this line of work. I learned that in work there is space for
late people you must do all work in time and do not waste time with doing nothing you
need to do a lot of work to be successful person someday. In the beginning, working with
people you have just first met is something different and something that is hard inside.
Hard inside that you can't say anything or do anything that you are usually saying cause
the near fact the you might offend them or they may think your rude. On my experience I
have became an observant and a listener to the people I worked with. As days goes on,
friendship and understanding with each other is built. I have worked with different people
with different kinds of attitude and behavior. One of the most kind I encounter is those
who are jolly and friendly. They are the ones that will help you give your who you are.
They will ask you many questions - personal, biodata, past experiences and they will also

16
share some of theirs. As a trainee you will never avoid those who are strict and what they
popularly called kill joys. Sometimes you may handle them but sometimes you'll just want
to avoid them. They are those co-workers that is more of standard operations. But though they are
like that I assure you'll learn more from them.
