If you want to test other Samsung products, please use the SHDIAG.

3. Executing
-

At first, you must prepare a bootable floppy disk.

Download the HUTIL from our webpage and copy on it.
Hutil.exe and Hutilxxx.cfg have to be always together on same folder.
Boot(turn on) with this floppy disk.
After boot, type HUTIL.EXE at the prompt on DOS(ex : A:\> HUTIL.EXE)

4. Functions

- Top screen

If you accept this agreement, press Y.

- Auto detection

1.

Select the HDD which you want to test

2.

Use the UP/DOWN ARROW keys

- Main menu

1. TOOL contains SET MAX ADDRESS, ERASE HDD, SET MAX UDMA,
AUTOMATIC ACOUSTIC MANAGEMENG and SELF DIAGNOSTIC.
2. OPTION contains DRIVE INFORMATION, AUTO DETECTION, ABOUT
HUTIL and DOS SHELL.

- Select menu (Tool)

1. SET MAX ADDRESS : Resizing capacity

2. ERASE HDD : 0-write or low level format
3. SET MAX UDMA MODE : Switching transfer mode
4. AUTOMATIC ACOUSTIC MANAGEMENT : Changing acoustic noise level

5. SELF DIAGNOSTIC : Diagnosing each function and surface defect

1. Select submenu (SET MAX ADDRESS)

You can resize your drive you wanted.

Type some size and then select PROCESS (and press Enter)

2. Select submenu (ERASE HDD)

You can erase your drive partially or entirely.

Because of data protection, above message will appear.

3. Select submenu (SET MAX UDMA)

You can switch the UDMA mode anytime you want

You can choose UDMA33, UDMA66, UDMA100 or UDMA133.

4. Select submenu (AUTOMATIC ACOUSTIC MANAGEMENT)

You can select the level of acoustic you want.

5. Select submenu ( SELF DIAGNOSTIC)

You can see above screen during function test and simple surface scan.

Because of big capacity, above message will appear.

If you want to scan entire surface, press y.

If there is no error on it, you will get above message.

- Select menu (OPTION)

1. DRIVE INFORMATION : You can see your drives information.

2. AUTO DETECTION : If you have more then 2 drives and if you have to select
another drive for testing, use this.
3. ABOUT HUTIL : You can confirm the version of HUTIL.
4. DOS SHELL : You can move to DOS screen.
