Rationale
Although I had a temporary
position, this will be my first year
teaching.
Also, during this time, I would like
to take the Math CSET in order to
obtain my single subject credential.
This will allow me to be able teach
mathematics in middle school.
Throughout the school year, my
district has trainings for thinking
maps and number talks. These are
programs that are used daily in the
classroom. As I have learned how
to use parts of these programs in
my class, I would like to be official
trained in order to integrate them
into my lessons.
The apps event will allow me to
learn new ways to integrate
technology into the classroom. At
my school, students in second
grade through fifth grade have
Chromebooks. We are encouraged
to integrate Chromebooks in our
lessons in order to help students
prepare for the SBAC.
Our district holds a weeklong
summer institute in August before
the new school year starts. During
this time, there are different
seminars and trainings to attend.
The topics are different each year,
however, I plan to attend this
institute in order to further my
understanding of curriculum
programs and integrating
technology into the classroom.
I currently work in a school district
with a high English Language
Learner population. In order to
reach all of my students, it is
important that I have many

different strategies for working

with English Language Learners.
Although I have learned many
strategies through my courses and
experience, I would like to dive
deeper and learn more methods
and strategies in working with
English Language Learners.
As I am now going into my first
year of teaching, I will be working
toward clearing my credential in
2018. The program will take two
years and I will be starting it in
2016.
As I have a love for math and
science, I would like to have a
formal training in STEM. Through
this workshop I would be able to
focus on my specific grade level as
well as awareness for other grade
levels. Having the awareness for
the other grade levels will be
helpful in creating lesson plans. I
will be able to plan for what
students should now when entering
second grade as well as what they
should know before going to third
grade.
In addition, I would also have the
option to train for middle school.
As stated above, I would like to
have my single subject credential
in math. By having that credential
and attending the STEM workshop,
I would be able to push my
students into using higher-level
critical thinking.
I believe that we should practice
what we teach, and I teach my
students to push themselves and
continue to learn. Therefore, I
would like to push myself and
become a national board certified
teacher. Education is constantly

changing, and it is important that I

stay on top of the new ways. By
obtaining my national board
certification, I will show my
dedication to my students and
education.
