NorthwesternIndianaandconsistsof145\times145pixelsand224spectralreflectancebandsinthe
wavelengthrange0.42.510^(6)meters.Thissceneisasubsetofalargerone.TheIndianPinesscene
containstwothirdsagriculture,andonethirdforestorothernaturalperennialvegetation.Therearetwo
majorduallanehighways,arailline,aswellassomelowdensityhousing,otherbuiltstructures,and
smallerroads.SincethesceneistakeninJunesomeofthecropspresent,corn,soybeans,areinearlystages
ofgrowthwithlessthan5%coverage.Thegroundtruthavailableisdesignatedintosixteenclassesandis
notallmutuallyexclusive.Wehavealsoreducedthenumberofbandsto200byremovingbandscovering
theregionofwaterabsorption:[104108],[150163],220.IndianPinesdataareavailablethroughPursue's
univeristyMultiSpecsite(https://engineering.purdue.edu/~biehl/MultiSpec/hyperspectral.html).

nmwidthwithcenterwavelengthsfrom4002500nm.TheKSCdata,
acquiredfromanaltitudeofapproximately20km,haveaspatial
resolutionof18m.AfterremovingwaterabsorptionandlowSNR
bands,176bandswereusedfortheanalysis.Trainingdatawere
selectedusinglandcovermapsderivedfromcolorinfrared
photographyprovidedbytheKennedySpaceCenterandLandsat
ThematicMapper(TM)imagery.Thevegetationclassificationscheme
wasdevelopedbyKSCpersonnelinanefforttodefinefunctionaltypes
thatarediscernableatthespatialresolutionofLandsatandthese
AVIRISdata.Discriminationoflandcoverforthisenvironmentis
difficultduetothesimilarityofspectralsignaturesforcertain
vegetationtypes.Forclassificationpurposes,13classesrepresenting
thevariouslandcovertypesthatoccurinthisenvironmentwere
definedforthesite.

TheNASAEO1satelliteacquiredasequenceofdataovertheOkavangoDelta,Botswanain20012004.
TheHyperionsensoronEO1acquiresdataat30mpixelresolutionovera7.7kmstripin242bands
coveringthe4002500nmportionofthespectrumin10nmwindows.Preprocessingofthedatawas
performedbytheUTCenterforSpaceResearchtomitigatetheeffectsofbaddetectors,interdetector
miscalibration,andintermittentanomalies.Uncalibratedandnoisybandsthatcoverwaterabsorption
featureswereremoved,andtheremaining145bandswereincludedascandidatefeatures:[1055,8297,
102119,134164,187220].Thedataanalyzedinthisstudy,acquiredMay31,2001,consistof
observationsfrom14identifiedclassesrepresentingthelandcovertypesinseasonalswamps,occasional
swamps,anddrierwoodlandslocatedinthedistalportionoftheDelta.
