Description

An inspiring montage of multiple pictures

creating one and showing typography skills.

Objectives

Learn to blend two or more images together

gradually, using masks

Process

After acquiring the pictures, I placed part of each of them

on the page using the lasso tool. I wanted to use the rule
of thirds, and I incorporated this into the design process. I
then used the masking tool to blend the lighthouse to the stars
and the pink color to the stars above them. I added the words
and the rectangle, then added the filter on the word shine. I
used photoshop as the primary program for this project. Because I
wanted the montage to be simple, I kept this in mind as I created this.
I kept the images to a minimum to allow for white space.

Microsoft Word

Description
An advertisment for a nonprofit event.

Objectives

Learn to use only Word design features without

using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process

I began by scanning this photograph of the rope. I left

the image the way it was scanned in, and I added the other
details using only Microsoft Word. I decided to position the
title to balance the green in the bottom left of the image. I also
added the three bars at the bottom to add repetition and interest
to the piece.

Description

A unique logo for a company.

Objectives

Create a unique logo for a company, and create a

full color, white on color and grayscale version of it.

Process

I started by sketching three different logos to record some

ideas of what I wanted the final logo to look like. I created
them using Adobe Illustrator and, after gathering critique,
edited them. After editing this final one a little more, I made the
final three pictured above using InDesign.

A brochure advertising volunteer

opportunities on the Appalachian Trail.

Objectives

Create three completely different, original logos to

fit a company or personal image that will appeal to
the specific audience. Refine one logo with variations
for color.

Process

I knew I wanted to create a brochure about the Appalachian

Trail, but I wasnt sure how to proceed. I looked for inspiration
on Pinterest and the internet, and I decided to go with a double
gate brochure. I designed the logo in Illustrator and placed it in an
InDesign document. After making many edits and receiving many
critiques, I added the body copy.

provided text and images.

Objectives

Create a flier for the graduate leadership conference

using the material provided.

Process

I started by sketches a few ideas for the layout. After that I

created a draft in InDesign, using a bold, large title to grab
the attention of the reader. I used the picture on top with eyes
looking down to add to the flow of the design. I use asymmetry
to contrast the elements. I was given the content, image and logo.

your logo and how it appeals to a target audience.
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. Acquire a
working knowledge of CSS.

Process

I took a logo I had worked on a few weeks ago and inserted it

into an HTML document. I put together the HTML document,
making sure to include information about the process, audience,
and design skills. After this, I created a CSS document and linked
the HTML document to it. I proceeded to add design elements to pull
the piece together. Some of these included adding a background and
changing the colors to match my color scheme. I also linked unique
fonts to show up on the webpage.
