Letterhead
Date:
11 June 2016
Course:
COMM 130 Section 7
Instructor:
Lindsey Lefevre
Objectives:
-Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.
-Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a letterhead.
-Include contact information: name, address, phone, website, and email
on each piece.
Description:
A letterhead made from a original design.
Programs:
Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
Process:
I first made the ice cream logo in Illustrator using the pen tool. I got
the inspiration for this project from my neice named Kaylee, who loves
ice cream. I started messing around in Illustrator with the pen tool and
eventually created my ice cream graphic. I then created circles around
the ice cream and positioned them on top of each other. In one of the
circles I used the scissors tool and cut it in half so that I could add text
to the top and bottom of the circle. I added this text with the text on
path tool. I then made some of the stroke lines bolder and added color.
I grouped everything together and ended up converting my strokes in
my image to actual shapes by going into object-expand. To make the
letterhead I used InDesign, I added my logo to the top corner along with
the information. Then I went into Illustrator and made my logo black
and white. I added the new black and white logo into the letterhead and
changed the opacity and enlarged it and positioned it into the corner.

the card. I then added pink rectangle stripes to the top of the card and
added text below.

Objective:
-Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
-Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
-Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One
should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign.
-Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs.
Description:
A two sided folding overlay brochure.
Programs: .
Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Process:
I started by making my logo in Illustrator using the pen tool. I set up
the overlay in Adobe InDesign, showing where the folding marks would
be. I then began finding pictures off the internet and found the outside
cover image from my own collection of photos. I fit the outside picture
of Mt. Rainier to the outside cover. I then staggered the other three
pictures in the inside and aligned the text I wrote with each picture. I
found a silhouette of trees on the web and saved it to Photoshop and
changed the color to green. I then added the trees to the background
and lowered the opacity. I found a picture of a bird online and decided
to use it as my cut out. I saved the picture to Photoshop and used the
magnetic lasso tool to cut the bird from the background. I then saved it
as a png and made the now white background transparent. I then added
the cut out bird to some of my text in Indesign and wrapped the text
around the bird.positioned it into the corner.

Objectives:
-Create an original Logo in Illustrator and refine it with three
variations of color.
Description:
A logo for a make believe company.
Programs:
Adobe Illustrator.
Process:
I got the idea when I was playing around in Illustrator. I ended up
making something that looked like googles so I decided to go with it
and make a snorkeling company logo. I made three versions and took
votes and decided to go with the one Im using. I then decided on the
name and then began modifying the snorkel mask which I did with the
pen tool. I then made the snorkel with the pen tool as well. Once these
were done I smoothed out the edges of the mask and snorkel with the
direct selection tool. I then added color the text and finally decided
to add a circle for the background. To make the logo one I grouped
everything together. I later modified the colors to black and white and
white on color.

Course:
COMM 130 Section 7
Instructor:

Objectives:
-Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then
incorporate the colors into the layout.
-Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool.
-Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in
Photoshop.
Description:
Combining an original photo with a well defined color scheme with a
poster/flyer that uses the color scheme in the photo.
Programs:
Adobe Photoshop.
Process:
I had an idea of a photo and theme and made sure that it had a defined
color scheme according to the visual focus color wheel. My color
scheme was triadic. I took my photo on my Cannon power shot A1200.
I took the photo in my room using my desk lamp for the lighting and
made sure my focus was on the compass. I then edited my photo on
Photoshop changing and adding; levels, vibrance/saturation, color
selection and sharpness. I then created a design on Photoshop using my
photo using the design principals. I used a quote from the Disney movie
Up that reads Adventure is out there. I then placed my color scheme
description in my design. After having critiques I ended up changing a
few elements, the biggest being an extra horizontal line and adding the
actual color swatches.

Programs:
Adobe InDesign.
Process:
I started off making three overlapping horizantal rectangles in
InDesign. I changed the opacity of all three and put the title and time,
date and location on the top and bottom rectangle. After this I used
one of the images provided and placed it in one of the triangle spaces.
I then added text to the other triange on the left. I then placed the logo
on the bottom right corner. To finish it off I ended up repositioning
most of the elements to complete my flier.

Montage
Date:
28 May 2016
Course:
COMM 130 Section 7
Instructor:
Lindsey Lefevre
Objectives:
-Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message
-Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
-Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Description: A spiritual or inspirational montage using at least two
photos blended together with typography.
Programs:
Adobe Photoshop
Process:
I used Pinterest to find a quote that I had previously saved. Once I
decided on the quote I searched google for large images that would
fit 8.5 x 11 print. I then found another picture with about the same
dimensions (brick). I then got on Photoshop and opened up the rock
climber picture and then placed the brick photo over it. I then used
overlay on the brick and lowered the opacity. I then added a new layer
on the brick and used the brush tool to remove the brick print from
the rock and rock climber. I added the quote and picked out the font
and bolded certain words. I placed a rectangle around the text and
went back to the brick layer and used the brush tool again to erase
the brick in the text so it would be a perfect rectangle. I then deleted
the rectangle and was left with a rectangular brick less quote. After
critiques I ended up moving my text down and changing the bolded
words to brick walls give us a chance. I also changed the opacity of the
bricks a little higher so they would be more noticeable.

Web Page
Date:
25 June 2016
Course:
COMM 130 Section 7
Instructor:
Lindsey Lefevre
Objectives:
-Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it
appeals to a target audience.
-Acquire a working knowledge of CSS and change at least the
following: The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the
paragraphs & list items, the background color, font families and add at
least one CSS comment.
Description:
A basic web page to show the design process behind a personally
created logo.
Programs:
Notepad ++, Adobe Photoshop.
Process:
I created this web page by using Notepad++. The first thing I did in
this assignment was copy the HTML provided. I then changed the text
and added my descriptions of how I made the logo. I ended up bolding
some of the text in the bullet points and in my link. I added a break tag
between the description of my link and my link. I attached the CSS to
the HTML and started changing everything to go with my logo. I added
a gradient to the background which made pink and white stripes. I
added a CSS comment in the html section of the CSS that explains the
stripes. I used the eyedropper tool in Photoshop to find the matching
colors for the stripes, grey border and red text (h2).

COMM 130 Section 7
Instructor:
Lindsey Lefevre
Objectives:
-Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
-Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe
programs, including Photoshop.
Description:
A scanned image and full bleed color event ad to help an imaginary zoo
fund money.
Programs:
Micorsoft Word.
Process:
I started with the scanning of a penguin I found in a National
Geographic magazine. Once I did that I inserted it in Word 2013 and
used the remove background tool to cut it out. I then made the heading
and choose the fonts. I messed around with shapes and ended up with
the two intersecting rectangles and circles. I found a color scheme;
complementary and ended up making the vertical rectangle orange
striped to go with the blues and help with contrast. I then made up the
text and centered and aligned it in the rectangle and circles.
