BROCHURE

Description: A folding brochure with 5 folds.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I created my logo in adobe illustrator
then brought it into indesign. I decided to use a fold that each outside
layer would come together to look like individual tiers on a cake. I
took a simple beautiful wedding cake photo and after going to tutoring
and drawing a measuring out everything I got it to come together. Using
front and back pages of 6 half pages. I used two different fonts, one
beautiful and one that is fun and readable. I used picture of cake that
all were generally same styled to get a theme look for my company.
I wrap text my image in the where it all began section. I kept the
alignment line style space. I kept the margins .25. Overall I learned
alot from this project, such as how to really think outside the box on
creating and how to figure out measurements for things. I love how it
turned out and I love the classy feeling it gives.
Message:Inform my audience on my wedding cake company, and how to
contact us.
Audience: Married people.
Top Thing Learned: How to create a logo in illustrator, how to clip a
picture in photoshop, and how to set up different types of brochures.
Color scheme and color names: Split complimentary: green, pink, and
cream.
Title Font Name & Category: Roomfer, decorative
Copy Font Name & Category:PenelopeAnne, sans serif

PHOTODESIGN

Description:Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills. Incorporating

color into a poster layout with original photo.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I wanted to do the
analogous scheme because there is a sense of comfort in the colors I chose
next to each other on the color wheel. I loved this photo because we all
loved as a child to find a dandelion. I decided to incorporate lime into
the color of the caption to flow with the color scheme. I love the young
summer feeling of the font that flows with the photo. I softened the photo
to capture the white part of the dandelion come to life. I blurred the
background to make the dandelion stand out. I also darkened the image to
make the caption stand out.
Message: My message is to not lose hope of good things happening and restore
the hope you felt in making a wish when you were a kid.
Audience: Adults and children who still feel that sentimental feeling of hope.
Top Thing Learned: The rule of thirds is important and it is important to use a
clear photo and make sure there is a clear message and focus on your photo.
I also learned the different ways to take photos and editing tools, layering is
important.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous, Lime, Green, and Yellow.

MONTAGE
Description: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or
more images, and the use of typography
.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): I
cropped the image to 118.5. Then I uploaded the photo and filtered
it black and white. I color replaced the eyes to create rhythm
with the text. I overlayed the temple and Moroni in both of the
eyes. I changed the resolution. I overlayed the body copy to
provide rhythm with the pictures in the eyes. I put inside in a
different color to create contrast.
Message: This is a message of hope for the future generation
aspiring to go to the temple.
Audience: Anyone who needs hope they can make it to the temple.
Top Thing Learned: How important layers are to never forget after
every picture and how precise and clean things should be.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: Black and
White on the canvas.
Color scheme and color names: Black, White, and sky blue.

Flier

Description: Black and White promotional flier to promote a

Graduate Leadership Conference.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I started
with four sketches for my flier of ideas of how to set it up. I then
started to try out different layouts on Indesign, not particularly
liking any of the sketches I had designed once trying out different
versions on Indesign. I had a layout completely different with a banner
at the top with the title, but it seemed unprofessional, so I made some
changes. I really liked my font and thought it looked better larger
and really emphasizing the picture to make it known this was the focal
and most important part. I truly learned and incorporated unity and
contrast between the different elements. I used unity in the alignment
and contrast in the title and date, time, and place. I love my alignment
and how sophisticated and simple it looks. I overall think its flows
well and is easy to understand.
Message: The message for this flier was for business graduates who
are striving for leadership.
Audience: Business Graduates.
Top Thing Learned: Tricks within Indesign and a better understanding
of the 8 rules that make up any ad.

Stationery

Description:
Matching letterhead designed using a personally created logo.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):
I created the logo using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator.
I decided to make my first page my business card. I positioned the kiss marks in
a horizontal line in the middle of the front side with the business name and
used the background as gold glitter for a more cosmetic and feminine vibe. I
then typed my contact information into a text box and positioned it on the right
hand side. I used a watermark of my logo on the contact information to add
contrast and not keep things to plain. I used a decorative font for the whole
both sides to keep rhythm.
On my second page I created my letterhead. I then copied/pasted the logo and
contact information onto this page. I kept the logo and contact information about
the same size as the information on the letterhead. I used dash lines and on the
right side separated my name form my contact information to add contrast. I used
the watermark of the kiss mark. I had my logo in the left hand top corner.

Event Ad

Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser

using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I scanned an image
of this penguin from a National Geographic magazine. I used Microsoft
word. I loved this image for its clarity and size. The background is
an icicle photo I found that compliments the theme of the penguins
habitat. I decided to go with the theme Happy Heat, a twist off of
the movie Happy Feet a movie about struggling penguins. I chose a
muted red to contrast against the blue. I also paired it with the
word Heat: to refer to the color of heat. I made the title reflect
for a melted icy feel. I like my alignment and white space. I tried
to keep it as simple as possible to not make it to busy to the eye. I
used repetition in the color and using bold for key words.
