ABSTRACT

The main function of this project is to access details of a passport holder

through RFID technology. For this purpose, the authorized person is
given an RFID card. This card contains an integrated circuit that is used
for storing, processing the information through modulating and
demodulating principles of the radio frequency signal that transmitted.
Thus, the data stored in this card is referred to as the passport details of
the person.
The passport verification and checking is a very time consuming
process. This proposed system simplifies the process by giving the
authorized person an RFID tag containing all the passport details like
name, passport number and nationality, etc. Once, the person places the
card in front of the RFID card reader, it reads the data and verifies it
with the data present in the system and if it matches, then it displays the
details of the passport holder. In this system, an Arduino Board is used.
For display a 16X2 LCD is used. The status also can be retrieved from
this system by pressing the status button interfaced to the Arduino board.

Furthermore, the project can be enhanced by using finger print module.

This overcomes the drawbacks of RFID and provides high level of
security to the system.

TECHNICAL DESIGN:

RFID is an auto ID device like Barcode, Smart cards, Biometric

technologies (Retinal scans) and optical character recognition etc.
Special feature of this technology is that there is no need of line of sight
reception as required in some other technologies. In RFID systems the
items are marked with tags. These tags contain transponders that emit
messages readable by specialized RFID readers. Most RFID tags store
some sort of identification number; for example a customer number or
product code. A reader retrieves information about the ID number from a
database, and acts upon it accordingly. RFID tags can also contain
writable memory, which can store store information for transfer to
various RFID readers in different locations. The project designed is an
authentication system where the passport holder is authorized through
RFID technology. The passport holder would have an RFID tag which
contains all the passport details like name, number, nationality etc. This
tag has to be swiped over the reader and the information thus read is
provided to a microcontroller of 8051 family. This information is
matched with the one stored in the microcontroller, if the data matches
microcontroller displays an confirmation message otherwise displays a
denial message on a LCD screen. The status of a particular person can
also be obtained through a status button in the system. In this system, an
arduino Board is used. For display a 16X2 LCD is used. The status also
can be retrieved from this system by pressing the status button interfaced

to the Arduino board. Here relay is used to control the electrical devices.
Copper core magnetic flux plays the main role here.

Applications and Advantages:

Applications of RFID based Passport Details identification system:
1) This project can be used in Airports, Colleges and Government offices.

Advantages of RFID based Passport Details identification system:

1) This project is easy to use.

Feasibility Study:
The project is feasible is most aspects, the cost of making one
unit of this product is only BDT 10000. The cost can be even further
reduced by using smaller boards like arduino mini or nano, if an
investor likes the idea of this project and wants to fund for
researching, this can be done. Another way to reduce cost is by
importing all the parts directly from China in large quantities, then the
price of each part would be even lower, hence decreasing the overall
cost of the project. If an organization wants to adopt the idea of this
prototype and wants to sell its units in the market, then decreasing the
cost for making each unit becomes an important factor as it will ensure
increase in profit for each unit sold. Also decreasing the price of each
unit, will attract more customers to buy this product, hence more
electrical energy saving and less electricity bills for them.
