TRAINER

Mr. Reginald A. Parquet is the newly appointed Project Director for the LA-Y.E.S.
Project. His most recent experiences were that as manager of the State of Louisiana
Medicaid Mental Health Rehabilitation Program, and Facility Manager of the Central
City Community Mental Health Center under the Department of Health and Hospitals,
Office of Mental Health. He has over thirty years of experience in the field of mental
health providing administration and program leadership. He has served on numerous
committees and has had multiple program responsibilities for designing, implementing,
evaluating, and overseeing statewide programs. He oversees the development of the
comprehensive strategic plan for creating and implementing the system of care within the
LA-Y.E.S. Project and ensures the quality of all project activities. Mr. Parquet has
administrative oversight of all personnel, activities, and services delivered by LA-Y.E.S.
Mr. Parquet has completed his PhD course work at the Tulane University School of
Social Work and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Tulane University of Social
Work.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Ethics in Mental Health:


At the end of the program, the participant should be able to:

• Provide a frame of reference for ethical decision making in the mental health and
social services field.
• Review ethical norms and codes of conduct for mental health disciples and fields
of practices for social work, counseling, and related- areas.
• Address major ethical issues that are currently facing these professional
disciplines.
• Summarize ethical approaches for resolution of ethical conflicts in practice fields.

An Overview of Motivational Enhancement Therapy:


At the end of the program, the participant should be able to:

• To give an overview of Motivational Enhancement Therapy


• Understand principles of Motivational Enhancement Therapy
• Understand application of Motivation Enhancement Therapy into practice
