About the Institute

The Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) is an

energetic and vibrant higher educational institution
promoted by the Bannari Amman Group, a leading
corporate house in southern part of India. It is an
impressive campus situated in a serene surrounding at
the foot hills of the Nilgiris Mountains encompassing a
sprawling area of 180 acres with a built up area of
more than 16 lakhs square feet and presenting an
exemplary illustration of corporate contribution to
society. BIT is a well designed campus with state-of-theart facilities. It is an ideal, conducive, educational retreat
where one can fully focus on studies and attain
academic goals.
The institute has a team of 369 dedicated members of
faculty, 82 with PhD and 138 pursuing PhD
programmes. It offers 14 graduate programmes and 14
postgraduate programmes and Ph.D programmes in
Engineering, Technology, Software Engineering and
Management. All eligible courses have been accredited
by National Board of accreditation (NBA), AICTE. Its is
also an ISO 9001-2008 Certified Institution. The
institution is accredited by National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A Grade.
BIT has a reputation as an innovative and dynamic
educational institution that maintains the highest
standards of instruction and provides a complete student
support system, using the latest developments in
instructional technology with utmost care. In this
direction, in a short span of eleven years, BIT has been
conferred with autonomous status from the academic
year 2007 2008 by the Anna University of Technology
Coimbatore and UGC.

About the Department

The Department of Mechatronics established during

2012, has grown significantly and currently offers B.E
Mechatronics, M.E Industrial Automation and Robotics.
The department has a core team of qualified and
experienced faculty with industrial and research
background. In addition, the department is fully
equipped with state of the art laboratories. The
department has organized more than 33 Conferences,
FDPs, and STTPs in coordination with AICTE, ISTE, AU,
MoEF, TEDA, CII, CODISSIA, UMS Charmilles, and
VOLTAS for the benefit of both academia and industrial
community. Both the UG and PG programmes are
accredited by NBA and NAAC.
Preamble
Day by day there are so much of enhancements are
happening in the modern world. Those enhancement
leads to a greater demand for quality product in right
time at right cost. The strategy of market is also keep
on changing. Due to this it is need for an industry to
develop quality products at a faster rate with competitive
price to survive in the global competition. This can be
achieved by implementing a new concept in the industry.
Hence to generate such an environment the advanced
product
planning,
continuous
improvement,
implementation of six sigma, mistake proofing is
needed. The sampling process is essential to develop a
good product. Statistical data plays a major role to
update the quality of the product in the industry
In current scenario, the industry- institute link plays a
vital role in engineering aspect to solve many problems
theoretically and practically. Now a days most of the
students willing to carry out their project in the real time
manufacturing system. Hence there is a need for both
faculty and students to equip themselves in the product
development and quality control techniques. The
industrialists are also benefited by utilize the intellects of
