The EM 253 Positioning Module – Easy-to-use and precise

The EM 253 is a simple but powerful positioning module that

enables the user to control position systems from Micro-Steppers to

intelligent servo drives (with integrated closed-loop control).

The hardware

Fast and independent:

• Integrated pulse interface for speci- fying position, speed and direc- tion with up to 200,000 pulses per second

• Integrated controller and position switching inputs perform the posi- tioning task independently of the CPU Adaptable:

• Activation of power modules with 5 V DC pulse or RS422 input inter- face Low wear:

• Optional “Jerk”/S-curve function- ality ensures smooth starting, stopping and changing speed Powerful and flexible:

• 25 motion profiles with up to 4 changes in speed can be config- ured and selected from the user program.

• Absolute, relative or manual posi- tioning; distance and position can

be specified in mm, inches, de- grees or as a number of pulses

• 4 different modes can be selected for home seeking (RPS)

The software

A graphically supported wizard integrated into the familiar pro- gramming environment (STEP 7- Micro/WIN, V 3.2 upwards) for:

• Parameterization (basic parame- ters for the system and compo- nents)

• Creating the positioning profile

• Specifying the home-seeking mode

The start-up tool, EM 253 Control

Panel, integrated into Micro/WIN supports online modification and parameterization of the configura- tion parameters for easy start-up (teach, manual control, etc.).

The EM 241 Modem Module – a small, but significant revolution

The EM 241 modem module is the

perfect solution for your PLC’s remote

communication needs, including re-

mote diagnostics, machine control,

alarm systems and general communi-

cation functions. That’s because the

EM 241 offers Plug&Play capability for

all the usual modem communication

tasks in the PLC environment. Whether

remote maintenance or remote diag-

nostics, CPU-to-CPU or CPU-to-PC

communication or for sending SMS

messages over a modem (parame-

terized with the help of the modem

wizard which is integrated in Micro/

WIN from V3.2 upwards), no pro-

gramming is necessary.

The EM 241 modem module has a lot to offer:

• Free CPU interface:

External modems occupy the CPU interface. Not the EM 241, which is simply plugged into the expansion module.

• Inexpensive assembly:

Thanks to standardized power sup- ply, top-hat rail mounting and the standard RJ11 socket for connection to worldwide analog telephone net- works, no extra work is necessary in the control cabinet.

• Integrated communication

solutions:

Solutions for all the main types of

applications are already integrated in

the module:

1.Teleservice (telephone service) via

Micro/WIN for program modifica-

tion or remote maintenance

2.CPU-to-PC communication via

Modbus master/slave protocol

3.Alarms, event-driven sending of

SMS or pager messages

4.CPU-to-CPU data transfer via the

telephone cable, via Modbus RTU

or PPI protocol

Simple call-in via telephone line: status (fast diagnosis, instructions for local service personnel); program change (software upgrades); and manual intervention by the operator.

• Maximum security:

Optimal password protection and/ or callback function integrated.

• Worldwide, flexible application:

All essential approvals, national settings via a rotary switch on the module, automatic baudrate selec- tion between 300 baud and 33.6 Kbaud, pulse or tone signal dialing.

• Fast commissioning:

Just take it out of the box, set the

country code, plug it into the S7-200

expansion bus, then connect 24 V

DC and the telephone line. Finished!

The configuration is read from the

CPU automatically.
