Q.1. A park 27 m long and 21 m broad has two roads, each 3 m wide, crossing each
other, going through the middle of the park. The crossroads divide the park
into four smaller rectangular parts, where grass has been grown and fencing
has been done. Find the total length of the fence.
Q.2. Floor of a room is 6 m long and 4.5 m wide. It has been covered with tiles of
size 50 cm by 40 cm. How many tiles are needed to cover the floor? Find the
cost of the tiles at the rate of Rs 45 per tile.
Q.3. The paper required for making a small envelop is 10 cm. Find the number of
envelopes we can make from a paper dimension 0.5 m by 3m.
Q.4. A rectangle and a square have the same perimeter of 100 m. Find the side of
the square.If the rectangle has a breadth 2 m less than that of square, find the
breadth, length and area of the rectangle.
Q.5. A piece of string is 36 cm long. What will be the length of each side if the
string is used to form :
(i) a square
(ii) a triangle with sides in the ratio 2 : 3 : 4.
(iii) a rectangle in which ratio of length to breadth is 3 : 1.
Q.6. A park 100 m long and 68 m wide has four grassy portions in its four corners,
each measuring 20 m by 18 m, and one rectangular portion in the centre
measuring 30 m by 10 m. It has two flowers beds of dimensions 30 m by 18 m
and two flower beds of size 20 m by 10 m. Find the area of (i) grassy portions
and (ii) flower beds.
