INSTALLATION

Customer Information: The information in this


installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled
technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and
training to correctly and safely add equipment to your
vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by
do-it-yourselfers.
1.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2.

Remove the trunk lid/fuel fill door opener cover (four


retaining tabs and two hooks). Remove one selftapping screw. Using the key, unlock the trunk lock.

Remove the drivers front door sill trim (six clips, two
hooks, and four retaining tabs).

Remove the drivers dashboard lower cover (nine


clips and unplug the vehicle connector, if equipped).

counterclockwise.

11. Remove two self-tapping screws from the lower


column cover.

13. Remove the front bumper:

Wrap a shop towel around the hood latch.

Remove the 2 self-tapping screws, 10 short


clips, and 2 long clips.

Release five retaining tabs on each side.

With the help of an assistant, remove the front


bumper (two hex bolts and two clips). Place the
front bumper on a blanket to prevent damage.

If the vehicle is equipped with fog light covers, continue
with step 17. If not go to step 19.

17. Remove the left cover (two retaining tabs, hook, and
screw).

18. Install the spring nut onto the left fog light bracket as
shown. Go to step 26.

20. While wearing eye protection, drill seven of the


pierced marks with a 3 mm drill bit. Enlarge the 3 mm
holes with a 24 mm hole saw.

19. On the inside of the front bumper, use a pushpin to


pierce eight preset marks.

21. While wearing eye protection, drill one pierced mark


with a 3 mm drill bit. Enlarge the hole with a 16 mm
hole saw.

22. Using a hacksaw, cut the front bumper between the


two scribe lines. Remove any burrs.
NOTE: Do not cut outside the outer scribe line.

23. Install the left fog light cover. Attach three hooks on
the left fog light cover onto the cut edge of the front
bumper.
NOTE: If there is interference between the hooks on
the left fog light cover and the cut edge of the front
bumper, file the cut edge.

24. Install a spring nut onto the left fog light bracket as

25. Secure the left fog light bracket to the left fog light
cover with three 5 x 14 mm self-tapping screws.

27. Secure the left fog light to the front bumper with a
5 x 20 mm self-tapping screw.

Make sure there is no gap or looseness between


the left fog light cover and left fog light bracket.

26. Secure the left fog light to the left fog light cover A
with three 5 x 16 mm self-tapping screws.

28. Repeat steps 17 through 27 to install the fog light on


the right side of the bumper.

29. Route the fog light harness 1-pin connector and
ground terminal between the right headlight and the
vehicle frame.

31. Remove the blue tape from the vehicle 1-pin


connector.

32. Plug the fog light harness 1-pin connector into the
vehicle 1-pin connector as shown.

35. Attach the fog light harness ground terminal to the


vehicle ground terminal, and reinstall the vehicle
ground bolt.

33. Remove three bolts and one clip, and move the
washer tank aside.

36. Reinstall the washer tank.

37. Using four wire ties, secure the fog light harness to
the vehicle harness. Do not secure the fog light
harness to the washer tube.

39. Route the fog light harness along the vehicle beam
as shown.

40. Secure the clip to the vehicle frame as shown.


38. Using one wire tie, secure the fog light harness to the
vehicle frame as shown.

41. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the


vehicle beam where the aluminum tape will attach.

42. Cut one aluminum tape in half.


43. Align the green tape as shown, and secure the fog
light harness to the vehicle beam with a cut piece of
aluminum tape.

45. Cut two aluminum tapes in half.


46. Secure the fog light harness to the vehicle beam with
the four cut pieces of aluminum tape.
47. Reinstall the front bumper absorber.

48. With the help of an assistant, plug the fog light


harness 2-pin connector into each fog light and
install the front bumper. Install all clips securely

50. Remove the vehicle harness connectors from the


vehicle harness 13-pin connector.

51. Remove the clip from the vehicle harness 13-pin


connector, and install clip B on the 13-pin connector.

53. Release the retainer on the vehicle harness 13-pin


connector. Insert the switch harness terminal into the
13-pin connector as shown.

55. Remove the vehicle bolt from the hood opener.

58. Install the relay on the relay block.

61. If the 6-pin connector is already used by another
accessory, locate the 6-pin connector taped to the
other accessory harness. Remove the dummy
connector from the accessory harness 6-pin
connector and plug the switch harness 6-pin
connector into the other accessory harness. Plug the
switch harness 4-pin connector into the fuse box. Go
to step 63.

64. Using two wire ties, secure the switch harness to the
vehicle harness.

67. Install the new combination light switch onto the


steering column. Do not push on the lever.

How to Operate the Fog Lights


Turn the headlight switch to the
(headlights on low beam).

71. Attach the fuse label to the drivers kick panel.

72. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly


and all connectors are plugged in.
73. Reinstall all removed parts.

If the fog lights do not turn on, check the fuse and all the
connectors, including the ground cable.

74. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery and


check the operation of all lights and other electrical
accessories.

NOTE: The fog light lenses can cloud when the outside
temperature is cold; this is normal and should go away in
warm weather.

75. Press and hold the radio power button for two
seconds to restore radio and navi (if equipped)
system functions.
76. Reset the clock.
77. If the IMA battery level gauge is at zero, start the
engine and hold the rpm between 3500 and 4000 (no
load) in P or N position until the Charge/Assist meter
indicates the IMA system has stopped charging the
battery.

Fog Light Aim Adjustment

Remove the bulb from the fog light as shown.

Adjust the fog light aim by turning the adjustment


screw in or out until the correct aim is obtained.
Adjust the aim according to local laws and
regulations.

Remove the fog light assembly from the bumper


(one self-tapping screw and unplug the vehicle
connector).

Install the new bulb into the fog light.

4.

Use only the specified Honda genuine halogen


light bulb.

Reinstall the fog light assembly and tighten the selftapping screw securely. Make sure the wire harness
is not pinched.

Rating: 12V 55W H11 Halogen Light Bulb


P/N 33165-S5A-0030

Do not touch the bulb. Oily or greasy substances


on the bulb can shorten its service life due to the
heat produced when the bulb is lit. If the bulb is
accidentally touched, wipe it clean with a soft
cloth that has been dampened with denatured
alcohol or a mild detergent solution.

When installing the new bulb, align the cutout in


the fog light with the tab on the new bulb and turn
the new bulb in until it locks. If the bulb is not
properly installed, the fog light may annoy
oncoming drivers.
