Students will ask and answer questions to formulate discussion and share
ideas using visual supports relating to the content.

Activate students prior knowledge by watching videos on our 5 senses. Go


over vocabulary and read the book Jack Canby Leah Moore. Students will
answer comprehension questions based off the story with prompting.
DAY 2

2014/2015

Go over vocabulary and re-read the story Jack Can by Leah Moore.
Students will answer comprehension questions based off story with less
prompting. Go over chart paper which reviews the 5 senses.

Class Y22 - PS 255

Lesson Plan

Each student will receive their own copy of the story, Jack Can by Leah
Moore. Students will identify the front and the back of the story as well as
the title and author. Students will then be asked to paste on pictures that go
along with each page in their book as its read aloud.

DAY 4
Read Jack Can by Leah Moore. Teacher will go over thinking map.
Students will create their own thinking map by cutting and pasting pictures.

DAY 5

Teacher will make popcorn and go over the 5 senses using popcorn as an
example. (Since popcorn is a chocking hazard, teacher will substitute
popcorn for popcorn flavored rice cakes). Teachers will help students fill out
Thinking Maps with words and pictures based on students level.

DAY 6

Lisa and Carolines Combined lesson on using a Bridge Map. See Attached
Lesson Plan.

DAY 1

Students will change schedule for group work.


Students will sit in their seats.
Students will listen as teacher reads Jack Can by Leah Moore
aloud

Students will engage in a senses video.


Teacher will ask questions relating to the video to formulate
classroom discussion by student response and student questions.
Teacher will go over vocabulary and read aloud Jack Can by Leah
Moore.
Teacher will introduce comprehension questions.
Depending on level, students will answer comprehension questions
using the unique curriculum.
DAY 2

Teacher will review the topic of senses.


Teacher will go over vocabulary and re-read Jack Can by Leah
Moore.
Teacher will go over the 5 senses using chart paper.
Teacher will hand out copies of Jack Can by Leah Moore.

As a group we will go over all the senses as we are experiencing the
popcorn is being made.
