SOP: India New Civil Aviation Policy An Analysis from Airbus View

Indian aviation sector has underperformed its potential; a major reason for it being the
throttling effect which the rather restrictive civil aviation policy has had on discouraging
expansion and investments in the sector. India has a population of more than one billion
including a 300 million strong middle class, but the annual domestic air ticket turnover stands
at a measly 70 million. Further, 90% of domestic MRO requirements are being met by
vendors situated outside the country. The MOCA has introduced the draft of new civil
aviation policy consisting of sweeping reforms which aim at changing the present situation.
Our group consisting of Wg Cdr Rohit Beri (Indian Air Force), Capt Aman Verma (Indigo),
and First Officer Kush Agarwal (Jet Airways). The combined experience of the group in
aviation industry is over 30 years. In addition, we have a diversified experience in different
areas with different organisations which would value add to the analysis.
Wg Cdr Rohit Beri has served in IAF for 20 years, as a Pilot and in various other roles such

insight of the functioning of the regional airports. He has also worked closely in conjunction
with civil agencies such as Karnataka Air Traffic Control, ________ and has been one of the
key organisers of Aero India 2015. He is currently a part of a Project Team which is working
in conjunction with Karnataka and Telangana State bodies for development of Mysore and
Adilabad airfields. His current position as Staff Officer at Headquarter Training Command
puts him in a favourable position for access to key stakeholders of DGCA, Bengaluru Airport,
State functionaries and other civil agencies which would go a long way in value adding to the
analysis.
Capt Aman Verma has served INDIGO AIRLINES for 7 years,as a pilot and grown in
organisation from jr co pilot to capt rank.Prior to that he has worked in France telecom as
Senior engineer (data Services ) and Airtel as Project Engineer in telecom domain. He has
