I certify that the information discussed below is a true account of what happened on the date of the
incident.
I have also read and am aware of my rights to due process as noted below.
Student Signature: ___________________________________________

Q1. What happened?

This is my last semester in SMC and the grade of this class is very important to my college
transfer application, so I hired a tutor to help me in this class. The tutor only helped me with
grammars and sentence structures, and all the works submitted are done by myself.
Professor Hearn asked to meet me in person through Email one day, I did not expect this since it
is an online course. So I consulted with my tutor about this matter, in the process giving him my
login information. He then without my permission responded a Email to Ms. Hearn lying about me
being out of States and unable to meet her. I feel very bad and angry at him but it is too late, as I
received a letter from the Student Judicial Affairs summoning me here.
Q2. Do you accept responsibility for the alleged misconduct? Why or why not?
No I donot accept the responsibility for the alleged misconduct. I did not copy others work as my
own. I worked very hard in this class and I did not know hiring a tutor would (possibly) be violating
school policies. I personally did not lie to Ms. Hearn. One thing I did do wrong though was giving
others my login information, which I deeply regret. I applogize for all the inconvenience this has
caused.
Q3. Based on what happened, could you have done things differently? How?
Yes. I should have checked my Emails and respond all by myself. Even if I am not sure of the
meaning, I should have just asked Ms. Hearn about it rather than discussing with a third person. I
shouldve not shared my login information with anyone else. I shouldve asked Ms. Hearns
permission before I work with a tutor in the first place.
Q4. Is there anything else you would like for the Disciplinarian to know that would support your
position?
I have seen ads from some major websites about tutoring and coaching. I did not know if this action
could potentially be violating school policies. I do have other ground classes this semester and if I
were to respond that Email myself, I would gladly to see Ms. Hearn in person.
