Facts of the Case:

Analysis:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:

Child care obligations, classes and other outside commitments are

some reasons why some employees dont have extra time in the office.
Some of the employees are functionally illiterate, they dont know how
to interact with other employees and in case of conflicts they dont
have the problem solving skills.
Some of the employees feel that their work is too demanding that they
dont have time to do other stuffs.
One assistant prefer to work alone and usually disrupted meetings in
which they are involved.
The previous management created a bias environment that resulted in
conflicts among departments and distrust between the management
and the employees.
Because of the thought that the expectations of the team process
would be overwhelming, employees are afraid that if the team failed,
the responsibility of the failure shall be on their shoulders.

Opportunities:
Threats:

because they are not well motivated and many of the employees are
functionally illiterate.
There is no teamwork because of the conflicts among the employees
and some of the employees prefer to work alone.

ideas because of fear that it may not turn out well.
Conclusion:
The employees of the Golden Plaza Hotel are reluctant to be team players
or even to participate on teams because they are not well motivated and many of
them are clearly functionally illiterate because of the bias policies of the previous

manager that were not in favor of the employees that resulted in conflicts and
distrust between the employees and the management. The previous manager did
not apply a single Human Resource Management technique to motivate the
employees to work in teams and to implement the principles of Total Quality
Management in the organization.

Recommendation:

Sandra should increase employee involvement in work related

activities and in decision making to motivate them and to bring out the
best in them. Example of it are allowing the employees to solve
problem at the source, fostering their creativity and ideas, and etc.
Sandra should empower the employees to increase their efficiency and
productivity. She should send them to trainings and seminars specially
the illiterate employees which have a problem of skills like
interpersonal and problem solving. Sandra should also empower
employees in such a way that an environment of trust is built between
employees and the management.
Giving of rewards is one way of motivating employees. Money is not
the only motivation to employees so Sandra must provide different
types of compensation on the basis of capabilities of the employees
and on the basis of their performance.
To eliminate the fear of employees in failing at their work, Sandra must
initiate the performance appraisal for all the team members. It will help
Sandra to see and evaluate the working capacity of each member and
it will also help to provide feedback to the employees. Performance
appraisal will help giving incentive, increasing salaries and also in
promoting the employees to higher positions.
