A Panacea for Obesity and Diabetes

In todays society, obesity and diabetes seem to be haunting many people. Yoga can help one to overcome these
problems. However, it demands steady practice and patience.

This article introduces a simple and gentle technique of sun salutation that Yoga texts refer to as Surya
Namaskar. Good for beginners, it is knee and back friendly. Start with few cycles and try to increase to about
108 cycles continuously. This will help in combating obesity and managing healthy levels of sugar.

Sit in the all fours


Take a deep breath and as you exhale fold the toes inward and straighten both legs
Inhale deep and as you exhale flex the arms and descend the trunk towards the floor
Inhale deep and as you exhale straighten the arms, lift the trunk up and bend backwards
As you inhale, come to all fours position
As you exhale, bend forward
As you inhale, come to all fours position
As you exhale move to snake posture
With a deep inhalation raise the hips up, straighten the legs and do not flex the elbows. As you exhale
move the head towards the floor and press the foot on the floor
10. As you inhale, flex the knee, rest then on the floor and come to all fours
This completes one cycle. Based on your level of fitness, practice and other parameters you can increase the
number of cycles
