Lesson 3 Performing Mensuration and Calculation (PMC)

Info Sheet 3.2
Maintain measuring instruments
Identify tasks to be undertaken for proper storage of instruments according to manufacturers
specifications and standard operating procedures

Storage is the act of storing goods or the state of being stored.

It can be a cabinet, container and others. It is a place for storing goods.

Cabinet is a cupboard with drawers or shelves for storing or displaying
articles or instruments. In a computer, storage is the place where data is
held in an electromagnetic or optical form for access by a
computer processor.
What are the tasks to be perform in order to store instruments
properly?

Identify the different instruments used for measurement

Segregate instruments according to their specification
Handle instruments properly
Identify the storage for a specific instruments in a storage area
Store the measuring instruments properly

What is a storage device?

Storage devices are used in the computers to store the data. The
computer has many types of data storage devices. Some of them can be
classified as the removable data Storage Devices and the others as the nonremovable data storage. Below are examples of computer related storage
and measuring instruments.
1. System Unit

is the part of a computer that houses the

primary devices that perform operations and
produce results for complex calculations
2. Memory

In computing, memory refers to the physical

devices used to store programs data on a

temporary or permanent basis for use in a

computer or other digital electronics
3. Hard drive

4. CD/DVD ROM

5. Flash drive

6. SD cards

7. LAN Tester

It is a storage device used for storing and

retrieving digital information using rapidly
rotating disks coated with magnetic material.
An HDD retain its data even when powered off
It is a drive that uses laser light or
electromagnetic waves within or near the
visible light spectrum as part of the process of
reading or writing data to or from optical discs.
a small electronic device containing flash
memory that is used for storing data or
transferring it to or from a computer, digital
camera, etc
SD (Secure Digital Memory Card) card is a
small card for creating more memory on a
digital camera, cell phone or other portable
device.
A cable tester is an electronic device used to
verify the electrical connections in a cable or
other wired assembly. Generally a cable tester
consists of: A source of electric current, A volt
meter, A switching matrix used to connect the
current source and the voltmeter to all of the
contact points in a cable.

8. Diagnostic card tester

Also known as motherboard tester. It is used

to test & diagnose motherboard problems.
9. Multimeter

Used to test the integrity of circuits and the

quality of electricity in computer components
10.Loopback adapter

Used to test the functionality of computer ports

11.Power Supply Tester

A power supply tester is an electronic device used

to test how well a computer power supply is
functioning. This type of testing is often performed
as part of maintenance on a computer, and can be
used to try to determine the source of a computer
problem.

Performance Task 3.2

Instructions:
Perform the task accurately in storing the instruments properly. Mark check

if YES or NO.

Tasks

Yes

1. Identify the different instruments used for measurement

2. Segregate instruments according to their specification
3. Handle instruments properly
4. Identify the storage for a specific instrument in a storage area.
5. Store the measuring instruments properly

Rubrics
Rubrics in Checking the Performance Task

1. Did the student/learner identify correctly the

instruments/tools used for measurement?
2. Did the students/learners segregate instruments
according to their specification?
3. Did the students/learners handle the
instruments properly?
4. Did the students identify the storage for specific
instruments/tools in a storage area?
5. Did the students store the measuring
instruments properly?

Note: In rating the student/learners from 1-5, 1 is the lowest and 5 is the
highest.
