Uses any bio mass as fuel

What Is Bio mass

Organic material such as agricultural wastes
and wood that can be reduced through
burning to produce a combustible gas
known as producer gas.

Type & Source of Bio mass

Fruits & Seeds
Rice husk
Palm oil kernel Shell, cake or fibre
Peanut shell
Sugarcane pulp
Corn cobs
Woody bio mass
Wood chips
Wood shavings
Saw dust
Others
Coal

What Is Gasification
Rapid thermal decomposition of material by
partial oxidation through the addition of
limited amount of air or oxygen.

Gasifier Bi-Fuel Systems

vs. Diesel

Decreased on-site fuel requirements

Lower exposure to environmental
liabilities
Longer run-time vs. amount of diesel
stored
Decreased visual emissions on full load

100% Diesel Run-time

100 KVA Generator

FUEL RATE OF 0.27375 litres / KWH

FULL-LOAD FUEL BURN OF 21.9 l/hr
FUEL STORAGE CAPACITY = 1000 litres
RUN-TIME= 45.7 HOURS

Bi-fuel Run-time
100 KVA Generator

DIESEL FUEL RATE OF 0.0821 litre /

KWH (BASED ON 70% GAS RATE)
FULL-LOAD DIESEL BURN OF 6.57 l/hr
DIESEL STORAGE CAPACITY = 1000
litres
GAS CAPACITY = UNLIMITED
RUN-TIME = 152 HOURS

Decreased Visual Emission

Gas Flow Requirements

1 litre diesel = 1.04 m3 producer gas
100 Kva 100% fuel consumption = 21.9 l/hr

Approx. Gas % = 70%

21.9 ltr x .70 x 1.04= 15.943 m3 replaced by gas
Gas flow requirement = 15.943 m3/hr x 1.2*
= 19.13 m3 /hr
*20% added for design margin

Investment Payback Example

100 Kva on Diesel 21.9 l/hr @ US$0.68
=US$14.89 / hr
100 Kva on Bi-fuel
Diesel 6.57 l/hr
@ US$0.68 = US$4.47
Gas 15.943 l/hr @ US$0
= US$0
Total = US$4.47 / hr
Total cost saving of US$10.42 / hr i.e. 70%
For 12 hrs operation, total saving is US$125.04
