Rules as per UAP By-laws 2009 under Article VII.Section 5.1.e: Duties and
Functions under each Standing Commission, Committee on Awards states
the following functions:

I.

Prepares programs of incentives in the form of recognition to members and


chapters;
Takes charge of all matters regarding granting of awards for services
rendered to UAP and the architectural profession.
Objective
The Committee on Awards 2015-2016, under the Commission of Internal
Affairs has drafted a simplified format on Guidelines for Awards, to
institutionalize and standardize the implementing rules and procedures for the
CHAPTER ANNUAL NATIONAL AWARDS.

II.

General Rules
1. The Award is given to any deserving member and chapter in good standing
for two (2) years making an outstanding contribution in promoting
architectural practice, protecting and serving the professional organization.
2. All Chapters will be categorized according to their membership size in good
standing.
3. The Commission on Internal Affairs shall send thru e-mail all prescribed
forms to all Chapter Presidents in October of the current fiscal year.
4. The leadership for Areas A, B, C, and D may form their own panel of jurors
and must submit their qualified chapter portfolios to the Committee on
Awards thirty (30) days before the Annual National Convention. Each
Administrative Area is expected to have one finalist for each group category.
5. A bidding chapter must be a chapter in good standing as of August 30 of the
current fiscal year with a minimum of 20 members in good standing as of
September 30, of current fiscal as per UAP by-laws. The committee on
awards convenes for evaluation thirty (30) days before the annual national
convention.
6. Submission of all Chapter Portfolios by qualified chapters at DISTRICT /
AREA LEVEL must be on A4 Format compiled on long folder and with CD
copy on PDF format. All documents must be supported with scanned on
jpeg/tiff file of Certificates, Citations, Recognition, Membership and
photographs of the events, program, seminars/training/workshops attended,
certified true and correct by Chapter President and Secretary.
7. Entries to the National Awards must be endorsed by the Area VPs and
District Directors and must be submitted to the Commission on Internal

8. CHAPTER to DISTRICT LEVEL - All Members/Chapters are required to
submit their Chapter Bid Portfolios and entries to their respective District
Directors Council Secretariat. District Council may choose their panel of
jurors to evaluate and award deserving member/chapter.
9. DISTRICT to AREA LEVEL- District Level qualifiers are then submitted to
Area Vice Presidents/Council Secretariat for evaluation to be awarded
during their respective Area Assembly or similar event. Area Council may
choose their panel of jurors to evaluate and award deserving
member/chapter.
10. NATIONAL LEVEL the Committee on Awards shall form a Board of Jurors
to evaluate and recommend awards for recognition at the National Level.
Awards and citations are which given during the Annual National
Convention. The decision of the Board of Jurors is FINAL AND NON
APPEALABLE.

Description of Awards
A. Outstanding Individual Chapter Member
1. The Outstanding Individual Chapter Member Award is open to all chapter
members in good standing, with a strong initiative to pursue chapter goals,
programs and events;
a. Served as resource person/ speaker for a seminar/ symposium/ lecture
attended by other Architects;
b. Must have attended seminars, trainings, workshop/short courses and
developmental programs relevant to the Practice of Architecture(attach copies
of Certificates of Attendance);
c. Authorship of Books, papers, and articles for journals on Architecture including
UAP Post and other publication, relevant to Architectural Practice.
d. Inventions or Development of New Design and Building Technology with
approved government patent (e.g., Construction Methods, Building Materials,
Architecture Software);
e. Participation in any multi-media (radio/TV) both local and national events that
positively reflects the image of UAP and the profession in general.
f.

Appointment paper or attendance indicating participation in any UAP Standing


and Special Committees;

g. Refer to Annex A for the standard evaluation sheet.

The Outstanding Chapter President Award is open to all Chapter President in


recognizing their outstanding leadership in promoting and contributing to the
interests of his/her chapter.
a. Indicate the numbers of attendees and type of chapter programs and projects
undertaken, that promotes the professional organization;
b. Participation in chapter events and program projects, evidenced by an attendance
sheet certified by the Chapter Secretary;
c. Participation in any National events and programs, evidenced by an attendance
sheet certified by National Secretariat;
d. Participation in any out-reached programs or socio-civic project of the chapter,
evidenced by an attendance sheet certified by the chapter Secretary;
e. Refer to Annex B for the standard evaluation sheet.
3. The Outstanding FOREIGN based Chapter President Award is open to all Chapter
President in recognizing their outstanding leadership in promoting and contributing to
the interests of his/her chapter.
a. Indicate the numbers of chapter programs and projects undertaken, that promotes
the architectural professional organization and affiliation from any Filipino organized
professional group;
b. Participation in chapter events and OFW/Filipino organized events that promotes the
image of Filipino Architects in the region (specify country) endorsed by the
Philippine Consulate or Embassy and certified by the Chapter President and
Secretary
c. Participation in any International (specify country) events and programs, that
promotes the image of the Filipino Architects in a foreign country certified by
Philippine Consulate/Embassy and certified by the Chapter president and secretary;
d. Participation of Chapter Presidents involvement in any Socio-Civic / out-reached
programs (specify country/region) that promotes the image of the Filipino Architect or
organization, certified by the Secretariat of International non-government
organization and attested by the Chapter Secretary;
e. Refer to Annex K for the standard evaluation sheet.
4. The Outstanding New Chapter Member Award is given to individual members
at the Chapter level, District level and to Area levels, to compete in the National
Level to be given during the National Convention of the current fiscal year.
a. Milestones and innovation in building design, teaching profession, research,
building/construction industry and other allied services of architecture;
b. Published books, journals, research, softwares, inventions, and articles on
Architecture and other related topics;
c. Active participation in organizing of chapter programs, projects and events;

d. Served as resource person/ speaker for a seminar/ symposium/ lecture


attended by other Architects;
e. Served as member of Organizing Committee for any program event at the
District, Area or National level;
f. Attended any seminar, program, or events at Chapter, District, Area or
National level;
g. Attended short courses, Seminars, Trainings and developmental Programs
relevant to the Practice of Architecture(Include copies of Certificates of
Attendance);
h. Personal appearances on TV or printed advertisements that positively reflect
on the image of the United Architects of the Philippines;

i. Refer to Annex C for the standard evaluation sheet.


B. Chapter Awards
1. The Best Chapter Award is open to all chapters in good standing, including those
that have already been elevated to the Hall of Fame.
Chapters may continue to bid for Best Chapter Award to attain a higher Degree of
Hall of Fame Awards within the National Level.

d. Participation of chapter members in any National events and programs,
evidenced by an attendance sheet certified by National Secretariat;
e. Participation of the chapter members in any out-reached programs or sociocivic project of the chapter, evidenced by an attendance sheet certified by the
chapter Secretary;

f. Refer to Annex D for standard evaluation sheet.

2. The Best New Chapter Award is given to newly formed chapters that are not
more than three (3) years old, from the date of its inception, until December 31, of
the current fiscal year.
a. Published article in any newspaper or magazine of general circulation or
appeared in a radio program relating to the practice of architecture (by a
chapter member/members in good standing who is not a regular columnist for a
newspaper/radio commentator in a program);
b. Having participated in any advocacies of the organization such as Habitat for
Humanity, Accessibility, Fire Code, Sustainable Architecture/Environment and
other NGO related UAP projects;
c. Participated in any socio-civic projects of both local and national governments
programs in the promotion of a better architectural environment;
d. Refer to Annex E for standard evaluation sheet.
3. The Best Foreign Based Chapter Award is open to all chapters based abroad in
good standing as of August of the current fiscal year, including those that have
already been elevated to the Hall of Fame.
a. Published article in any newspaper or magazine of general circulation or
appeared in a radio program relating to the practice of architecture (by a
chapter member/members in good standing who is not a regular columnist for a
newspaper/radio commentator in a program);
b. Having participated in any foreign based advocacies of the organization such
as special architectural review classes, Accessibility Law, Fire Code,
Sustainable Architecture/Environment, LEAD and other related Architectural
services;
c. Participated in any socio-civic projects of both local and national governments
programs in the promotion of a better architectural environment;
d. Refer to Annex F for standard evaluation sheet.

C. Meritorious Chapter Projects Award


1. The Best Public Relations Program Award is given to a Chapter with project or
program that promotes the profession and the value of architecture to the
community and the environment.
a. Conceptual planning, research and budget preparation of the project;
b. Participation of chapter membership to the implementation of the community
program in the promotion of the profession and the organization;

c. Medium of information dissemination together with associate partners in the


promotion of the chapter program and to the community;
d. Impact of the activity implemented in the promotion of architecture profession
to the community;
e. Assessment report or rate of acceptance of the Chapter program implemented;

2. The Best Professional Development Program Award is open to all chapters in


good standing that promotes professional growth of architects, and upholds the
dignity and integrity in achieving the highest level of professionalism.
a. Invite other professional to share their expertise to enlighten members on the
future of their professional growth;
b. Promote Architecture profession as a partner in the country development;
c. Formulate program for Architects on business management and conduct
business with government agencies;
d. Conduct advocacy meeting with non-government organization (NGO) and local
government and other national government agencies on its long-term
development plans re: barangay, municipality, city, and national government;
e. Refer to Annex G for the standard evaluation sheet
3. The Best Civic Involvement Program Award is open to all chapters with projects
or program in cooperation with other agencies or groups, program of government,
NGOs or civic groups, thereby promoting UAP as a professional organization.
a. Organized community based program in the promotion of the architectural
profession; (ex: planning of day care centers, school classrooms, etc);
b. Extend community action services to indigenous communities or areas affected
by natural calamities;
c. Extend professional services to any non-government organization or
government agencies that needs immediate planning of community facilities or
structures for public use;
d. Organize any fund raising activity/program that will help promote architectural
services to the community;

4. The Best World Architecture Day and National Architecture Week Event
Award is open to all chapters with project or program that promotes Architecture
as a profession, and the professional organization during the National Architecture
Week Celebration.

a. Sponsored or have written any article/announcement, published in general


circulation, regarding NAW activities/programs;
b. Participate in the development of a comprehensive program for the academe,
the design group and other allied partners in all administrative areas to
mandate chapters/districts to join in any part of the celebration;
c. Participate in the conceptualization and organizing all NAW activities from
chapter / district/ area level;
d. Refer to Annex J for the standard evaluation sheet.
5. The Best Joint Chapter Program Award is open to all chapters who agreed to
jointly undertake the planning and implementation of a projects/program that
emphasize cooperation in the development of the professional practice.
a. The two (2) chapters agreed, to equally invest time, money and responsibility in
the planning and implementation of the organizations technical and social
programs;
b. Demonstrate the spirit of camaraderie in the delivery of services to the project
and its beneficiaries;
c. Active participation of both chapter members in the promotion of the profession
and its socio-civic activities;
d. Refer to Annex K for the standard evaluation sheet.
6. The Best SOCIO-CIVIC FOREIGN BASED Program Award is open to all foreign
based chapters with projects or program in cooperation with other Filipino OFW /
Organized Communities / civic groups, promoting Filipino Architects as a
professional and UAP Chapter as a professional organization.
a. Organized a special continuing educational program for Filipino Architects and
graduates of Architecture working abroad.
b. Extend action services to other Filipino Professionals/communities/OFW
affected by war, crimes and other natural calamities;
c. Extend professional services to any International non-government organization
or affiliated Filipino Professional Organization seeking Architectural
Professional services on planning and design of public spaces.
d. Organize any fund raising activity/program that will help promote architectural
Professional Services to the community.
e. Refer to Annex L for the standard evaluation sheet.
