Unit A
In this unit, students will gain a basic understanding of what business is and of the different types of businesses. They will
also gain an understanding of the different types of economic systemsand how they are alike and differentand will
gain an understanding of the United States economic system and factors that affect our economy. Students will conclude
the unit by gaining an understanding of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship and the procedures and requirements for
starting a business.

Instructional Methods
In this curriculum, you will accomplish this through a combination of self-paced learning, lecture and demonstration, and
classroom activities. The students will use computers, basic software, and the Internet as they study the concepts in this
unit. The use of Internet is required for several activities in the unit, as well as, word processing, spreadsheet, and
publishing software.
