Course/Classroom Expectations: What does Mrs. Waehner want me

to do?
I expect each student to be actively ready, respectful, and responsible at all
times in and out of our class. I have high expectations, both in grades and in
your personal attitude. During this course, I expect students to work towards
becoming organized and skillful students so that they can apply what they
learn this semester towards being effective student in their high school and

college classes. I expect students to be respectful of one another and

themselves. I expect every student to uphold and follow the School
Handbook, as well as my own Classroom Rules and Directions. Students are
to follow all current and future posted and announced rules/procedures at all
times. Written in this Syllabus is a contract for the students. Everyone will be
treated fairly and equally; all must follow the syllabus and my instructions.
In order to maintain an excellent learning environment in our class, students
will be expected to attend class, participate in all class activities and
discussions, complete all assignments and follow the following expectations:
Do Your Part!
Always Try So That You Perform To Potential.
Be Resourceful, Prepared and Ready To Learn.

my class has its own dividers)

Course Website: My website is mrswaehnershistoryclass.weebly.com
I encourage both students and parents to visit the course website frequently.
I will do my very best in updating the website daily to contain homework
assignments, class assignments, upcoming quizzes and tests, extra credit,
general course information, and anything else relating to the course that
might be helpful. I will also keep an updated course calendar for you to use
to stay on track with assignments and follow along with material in case you
must miss class for any reason.
Grades: How am I going to get graded in this class?
Grades are based on class participation, compliance with classroom
expectations, warm ups, homework, planner checks, projects, papers,
quizzes and exams. Grades are calculated based on total points. To figure out
your grade simply divide your actual points by the total possible points.
Grades are cumulative and based on the following breakdown:
45% Assessment (includes tests, quizzes, projects, etc.)
45% Practice (includes notes, homework, in class work, etc)
10% Final Exam
The following cutoffs will be used to determine your final letter
grade:
A
90%-100%
B
80%-89%
C
70%-79%
F
Blow 70%
Homework
Each unit will have various types of homework that are due promptly on the
provided due date. Every Friday I will conduct planner checks to ensure that
personal calendar/planners are being used and used correctly.
Late/Missing Assignments
Every student will receive two late work passes that are valid for the entire
semester. With these passes, students can turn in one assignment per pass
late at any time during the semester and receive full credit for the
assignment. All other assignments turned in late will receive zero credit. If a
student misses work due to an absence, they will have the amount of time
missed in class to make up that assignment for full credit. Students should
obtain the missed notes from a friend if they miss a day of class. Any
assignments can be obtained from the teacher or from the course website.
Tests will be made up on the first day back. Students are expected to be in
class on time every day.

Appeals Process for late work

Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Schools are Early College High Schools.
Therefore, it is our belief that our students must be prepared to deal with
situations that may arise from attending college. One of these situations
might include meeting with a college instructor to petition for accepting
late work. Although college instructors generally do not make provisions for
accepting late work, there may be extenuating circumstances where they
may reconsider and accept the late work for credit.
It is our commitment to help our students continue to evolve into successful
and responsible citizens and learn a process whereby they are able to
communicate effectively with both their high school and college instructors.
Consequently, a process and procedure has been developed for students
who have extenuating circumstances and need to make up academic work.
The student may contact his/her teacher for an Appeals Process Form.
Attendance Policy
Class participation is essential for success. School attendance policies will be
strictly enforced. Students need to attend school every day. Whenever
possible, please schedule all appointments after the school day. If a student
must be absent due to illness or other substantial reasons, the parent must
call the office at (480)854-1504. Although the absence may be excused,
excessive absences for any reason may negatively impact a students
standing in the class and may also jeopardize success.
Tardies
Being prompt is a key to success in life, work, and school. Students are
expected to arrive to every class on time and be ready to work when the
tardy bell rings. Students are solely responsible for being on time. Excessive
tardiness will negatively impact a students grade n class. Students who are
tardy will sign-in on the classroom tardy sheet and be required to serve 15
minutes after school. Failure to make up tardy time will result in further
disciplinary action.
Parent/Student Vue Synergy
Maintaining good communication between the school and home is important
to student success. Therefore, students and parents are encouraged to
check the grade book portal available online for information on student
grades, attendance, and assignments. Parents may stop by the office to
receive their login information/password and get access to the portal.
Students will receive their access information during the first few days of
school
in
their
classrooms.
Additionally,
Parent/Student/Teacher/Administrator conferences may be scheduled through
the front office. If you are trying to reach me, please email me at:

All work must be your own! Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Students who are caught will receive an automatic zero, their parent(s) will

Academic Assistance
I encourage all students to seek assistance when needed. I am available
before school from 7am to 7:40am and after school, 3pm to 4pm. Students
are strongly encouraged to seek help if needed.
It is, however, the
responsibility of the student to seek out the necessary assistance. AAEC Red
Mountain is an Early College High School and does not accept any grade
lower than a C.
This includes grades/credits from any college course.
Students who are enrolled in any college class and earn a letter grade lower
than a C (or withdraw from a college course after the grace period) will not
receive credit for the class and will not be allowed to enroll in any extra
college classes. If you have any questions or concerns about the course
material or the guidelines for the class please do not hesitate to contact me
