The effort is presented as Hours/Year. This is achieved by estimating the effort for the maintenance task and equating it to effort/year. For example: Monthly tasks will be multiplied by 12. A 5 annual task will be divided by 5. The effort has been
presented as ships staff (SS) effort and base staff (BS) effort. Effort is based purely on an estimate and not based on empirical data. Although estimates may be incorrect they are consitent for both schedules, therefore, the estimated saving is
correct. No potential capital savings have been shown but this could be extensive due to the nature of the PMS schedule.
