I was so happy to get your letter yesterday. I was very excited to read the
description of your sailing trip. If I had been there, I would have had the
unforgettable moment. In fact, I have not ever had such a great experience because
my hometown is near the mountains instead of the sea. However, I also have a lot of
favorite activities in my free time. I am a big football fan, so I try to play as much as
possible. I and my friends usually have exciting matches in a nearby stadium. On
some occasions, I find it great to go hiking in the mountain that surrounds my
hometown. Theres a path that goes up into the hills and I can reach a stunning temple
at the top. From up there, theres an impressive view over the whole city. I also enjoy
reading, and of course I spend quite a bit of time chatting with my friends online or
over dinner.
In general, they are good ways for me to forget about my daily worries. Also, it
is a great opportunity for me to spend time with my friends. It definitely reduces the
harmful effects of stress as well as pressure of my job and life. Do you have the same

It is quite some time, since I heard from you. I was very happy to know that
you go to the gym regularly like this. There is also a gym near my house however it is
quite small and not equipped with modern equipment as in your country. There are
only some simply treadmills and dumbbells. Besides, there is also a swimming pool
which is not far from my house with only 10 minutes by foot but it is quite crowded
in the summer months and the other sport facilities are not available. Therefore,
instead of going to the gym or swimming pool frequently, I prefer spending my time
on running. I try to go running as often as I can, at least four times a week, but it
depends on my schedule. I think running is a great form of exercise, it not only a
good way to keep fit, but also is beneficial for my heart. In addition, I occasionally
play badminton with my father in my back yard.
I believe that doing sport regularly is a great way for me to release all the
pressure I accumulate because of the competition and the heavy workload in my

It has been quite some time since I hear from you. I hope you are continuing
your studies. In the recent days, my country has celebrated the reunification day
between the south and the north Vietnam, April 30 th, 1975. In the history of Vietnam,
April 30th, 1975 is the day that marks the ending of the Vietnam War and leading to
the liberation of Vietnam's southern part. Therefore, this special event has been held
every year and it is a memorable commemoration for all Vietnamese people. Over a
week prior to April 30th, streets in big cities like Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang and Ho Chi
Minh city are eye-catchingly decorated with colorful banners, flags and neon lights.
Also, places for parade, or the stage for a national live show are prepared. Each
Vietnamese family hangs red flag with yellow star in front of their houses in order to
express their national pride. This is also a special occasion for families coming
together. We watch again the documentary films about Dien Bien Phu victory or the
revolutionary struggle for independence.
I think the celebrations like this play an important role in education the
patriotism and national spirit for each Vietnamese people, especially in the young

Nang is a great choice for your next holidays in Vietnam.
Da Nang is one of the major port cities in Vietnam, so it is easy to travel to Da
Nang via air or sea. Da Nang is also a famous tourist destination on the South central
coast of Vietnam. You can relax on the beautiful beaches or enjoy the wonderful
diving and snorkeling in the area. The sea food in Da Nang is also stunning such as
crab, lobster or shrimp and squid with a variety of sauces and spices. In addition, you
can visit Ba Na - a hill station and resort located in the Truong Son Mountains west of
the city of Da Nang. You not only enjoy fresh air but also contemplate the impressive
scenery. The cable cars will give you an amazing trip from the ground to the hill
peak, it is a great opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking views. Moreover, there are lot

weekend. However, as most men, I cannot say I like shopping and I hardly ever go to
the mall unless I know for sure what I want to buy. If you ask me my favorite sorts of
things when I go shopping, I will tell you they are books. I like to buy books. I read a
lot, and I enjoy seeing all the books on the shelves in my house. Books allow me to
relax and they open the doors to an imaginary world. I usually buy at least two books
each going shopping. There are several main kinds of shops near my house, including
modern stores and traditional markets, small groceries and super malls. These shops
provide the wide range of commodities such as food, clothes, books, furniture and so
on. In general, the shopping has become more and more convenient and easy in the
modern life. Occasionally, I can go shopping in the internet instead of going to the

I was very happy to get your letter yesterday. In the last letter, I told you I went to
wonderful birthday party. It is the 25th birthday of my close friend. We helped her to
decorate the flat with balloons and ribbons. At 9 pm, I turned the lights off and
brought a birthday cake into the room. We had placed 25 candles in the chocolate
frosting. She invited some other classmates of ours, and we all sang the birthday song
for her. We asked her to make a wish and to blow out the candles. She cut the cake
into small pieces and shared with everyone. Some playful people spread some cake
on nose of each other and we all laughed loudly. In addition, we gave her a very large
card where everyone had written a message to wish her all the best. I also prepared

leather shoes. In contrast, casual attire which brings me comfortable feeling is my
favorite clothes after work hours. I am very happy to just put on a pair of jeans and a
T-shirt or something similar. However, I am not a big fan of clothes shopping, and I
hardly ever go to the mall unless I know for sure what I want to buy. I occasionally
wonder why women spend too much money and time on clothing shopping.

schedule, transport, food and other essential things. I have been to most provinces in

When I was in high school, I studied a lot of subjects, including natural and social
subjects, for examples mathematics, chemistry, physics, literature, history and
geography. However, history is the subject I like the best. I really enjoyed studying
history and I think history is a very useful and fascinating subject. It is very important
to understand what happened in the past in order to analyze todays geographical and
political situation. My country experienced thousands of historical years under
different dynasties as well as violent wars for independence. Studying history helps
me understand historical values in order to respect the present and future. In addition,
my history teacher was extremely good. He was very active and enthusiastic; he

you. As I wrote in the last letter, I live in Rong village, a small hometown which is about 60
kilometers far from the center of Hanoi. It is a pleasant and peaceful place, which is very
different to the lively cities such as Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh. Rong village is surrounded by
mountains and large paddy fields. My hometown is well-known with impressive temples
with traditional architecture and gorgeous ponds full of water lilies. These places are so
calm and pleasant, visitors can enjoy the tranquility of them. In addition, my village is
famous for its colorful and sweet cuisine. I believe they will make your mouth water if you
have opportunity to try them. I love my small village very much and I do not intend to move
to the other places. However, if I were able to move, I would choose a place which is near
the sea such as Nha Trang or Da Nang. I like the beautiful beaches and want to enjoy the
wonderful activities related to water, for examples diving or snorkeling. I also love the taste

My dear Robert,
I am extremely glad to receive your letter of the 9 th July and I enjoyed reading your
description of the autumn in England. I believe that you will be surprised when I tell that my
favorite season also is autumn and now I have been enjoyed the most beautiful months of a
year.
In Vietnam, autumn is a pleasant time of the year because it is not hot and humid as
summer. Fall is more moderate and the weather is mild. I love the autumn because it brings
me the different feelings before the year comes to an end. When fall shows up, the colors of
the tree leaves change. They turn red and yellow, which is quite spectacular.
As other Eastern countries, we will greet the mid-autumn festival which is held on
the 15 August in the lunar calendar, during a full moon. My hometown becomes stunning
and colorful and children are exciting with moon cakes and lantern parade. I also look
forward this festival because this is an occasion for my family and friends coming together.
