is

a free-to-play location-based augmented

reality mobile game developed by Niantic foriOS and Android devices. It was released in most
regions of the world in July 2016. Making use of GPS and the camera of compatible devices, the
game allows players to capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokmon, who appear
on device screens as though in the real world. The game is free-to-play, although it supports inapp purchases of additional gameplay items.
Actually pokemon go in Indonesia has not been officially released. But, in Indonesia Android
users can download the application via the apk or other unauthorized gaming sites. To play this
game, in other words, making Pokemon Go know where we are, it takes an active server.
Pokemon Go servers, including the already active in Indonesia, it is no wonder without any
official releases can still be played smoothly. Even so, there are a few countries in Asia that his
server was blocked. Singapore and Taipei could be state-enabled server, but eventually blocked
by Niantic own.
Pokemon Go and Its Effects on The People of Indonesia.
To know the effect on the people in Indonesia I make the observation and I do a little research in
my hometown in Malang because many Pokemon Go players in Malang. The research questions
its to get the information why they (Pokemon Go players) playing this game. And several
questions that I give are :
1. From when they are playing Pokemon Go?
2. From where they know Pokemon Go?
3. The reason why they play this game?
The Result
First interviewee is Bunga she is ub student, she played a Pokemon go since about 2 weeks ago
that the initial release of this game. She knows the Pokemon Go after seeing the posting of
Rachel Fanya one of celebgram in Indonesia. According to her the reason to play this game
because the game is cute and offer new things he could catch a Pokemon like in the movies.

Second interviewee is Januar, he has played a Pokemon Go since 1 week ago. He knows this
game from his fiends because many of his friends playing this game. He did not want to miss this
game so he comes to play this game and he think this game is different with the other game that
he ever play before because he should actively move to catch the Pokemon.
Third interviewee is shinta, she is very interesting because she is already working and a woman,
but she wants to play Pokemon Go. Like Bunga she knows this game from social media. She has
played Pokemon Go since 2 weeks ago. Why she plays this game because this game different
from the other game that she play before she thinks this game is very interesting because he
should actively move to catch the Pokemon.
Fourth interviewee is vega she is ub student. She had two days to play this game and she knows
this game from her friend because this game very popular, so she tries to play this game and she
likes this game because this game so cute she can catch Pokemon with friends.
Fifth mochamad attha he is ub student and also my friend. He has played Pokemon Go since 1
week ago. He knows this game from YouTube because many youtubers review this game so he
want to try this game. He plays this game because he wants to remember his childhood when the
Pokemon cartoon series first aired on TV.
Conclusion
Many reasons why players play this game. But with this observation, we can conclude that this
game is attracting the attention of gamers because this game is different from the other games in
which their Augmented Reality(AR) features provide a unique impression for the players.
And with the popularity of the Pokemon cartoon series makes the players also want to remember
again about his childhood where the Pokemon cartoon series first aired on TV.
