Activity 3: Start your own group business
An entrepreneur might have all the right skills, but he or she needs a good idea for a product or
service that other people are prepared to pay money for.
Lets prepare for an Entrepreneurs Day at your school.
1. Work in a group and brainstorm some ideas for a product or service that you can sell on

3. Vote for the best idea and think about how you will be able to make money from that idea.
Look at the following checklist to assist you in your planning: (look the example (in blue)of
one learner from last year, to help you know what is expected)
Describe the product or service that you going to sell or provide (maqina)
Would you buying products to sell or would you be producing your products and selling

Where would you get your products/ raw materials and how much would be pay for it

Location of your business (nageng near assembly)
Where will you get the money to start your business (save from my pocket money)
How much money you will need (R 200)
Where you will get the money (form pocket money and borrow some from my mother or
brother)
How will you pay back this money (after I have sold and made profit I will pay it back)
Discuss with your teacher what will happen with the money after the market day event?
What do you think we can do with this money? Help, less-fortunate people, add to your
Farwell trip or?
Discuss your costing how much you need, how much you going to sell your products
and the possible profit you want to make. (I will need R 100, I will sell each R1 I will make
R 250 profit)
