Executive Summary
The JX NIPPON MINING AND METALS PHILIPPINES, INC. is located from 177 East Ave,
SEPZ., LTI, Binan, Laguna and the president of company is Mr. Kazuhiko Lida from
japan. There number of employees are 266 and their product they sale local and
international are Electrodeposited Copper Foil (EDCF) and Treated Rolled Copper Foil
(TRCF) and their capacity to produce for EDCF 200 tons per month and TRCF 1300
km per month.

Introduction
The JX NIPPON MINING AND METALS PHILIPPINES, INC. is only company that produce
copper foil by using electrolysis principle in the Philippines. In electrochemistry is a
chemical reactions involving electricity and the electrolysis is a chemical reactions
by passing an electric current through a solution. They has three certifications for
safety, health and environment that assurance for the company to operate.

Main Body of Report

The JX NIPPON MINING AND METALS PHILIPPINES, INC. in the processing for their raw
material or they called it masteroll , before to be a masteroll it must be pass
through to the three processing tank. First is Digester Tank that copper dissolution
process where the copper is dissolved to produce copper sulfate solution , they use
sulfuric acid and air fo the reaction to produce copper sulfate and the air purpose is
to be a catalys. Second is Dirty Tank that collects solution from the digester tank
and overflow from EFC units, they where use additives glue and HCl from produce
product in digester and overflow product from EFC units and heat exchanger to
control of the system solution temperature is achieved by circulating the solution in
a heat exchanger at 60 0C. The last processing to be a solution a concentrated and
will be use as solution for electrolysis to produce solid copper is Clean Tank, it
receives the filtered solution from dirty tank and it supplies solution to the EFC units
and has sampling point copper and acid concentration. The filter they use before
and after undergo to the digester tank and clean tank is an equipment used to
separate or retain the solid particulaties and a fluid solid mixture by passing the
mixture through a process material. The EFC has a drum serves as the cathode in
the electro-deposition process, its copper material has stainless steel with chrome
and diameter of 3.0 meter with width of 1.397 meter that has a mass of 10 tons ,
equivalent of 20000 pounds. The EFC-Dimensionally Stable Electrode (DSE) has a
anode that gives off electricity needed for the electrolysis and A/C gap is the
distance between the anode and the cathode. It is maintained 3.25mm at the throat
area. The throat is the gap between the front and rear anode 8-12mm. Then the
masteroll will be produce. From several process to be a masteroll , next is to treating
process. Treating process where the masteroll will be pass through several chemical
compounds solution to serve as additives to their properties of copper foil, then it
will be a treated raw material. To be a product it must be pass through a Splitting
Process where the materials are pressing and cutting for the customer requesting
lenght. Then it will be deliver to its respective location.

Recommendation
Based on my experienced in our laboratory experiment for electro-deposition
electrolysis that were carbon rods as a cathode and the solution of copper sulfate
as a electrolyte in the isolated container , then we were turn on to flow the
electricity to shown the principle electrolysis. Its a miniture for the process that
they used of JX NIPPON MINING AND METALS PHILIPPINES, INC. to produced copper.
In the simple idea they can profit and contribute in an industry in local and
international.
