INTRODUCTION
WereChristianstounderstandtheanatomyofdeception,theywouldbemoreaptto
recognizedeceivers.TheScripturestellusthatSatanandhisministersactually"transform
themselves"intoangelsoflight,apostlesofChristandministersofrighteousness...
Forsucharefalseapostles,deceitfulworkers,transforming themselvesintothe
apostlesofChrist.Andnomarvel;forSatanhimselfistransformedintoanangel
oflight.Thereforeitisnogreatthingifhisministersalsobetransformedasthe
ministersofrighteousness;whoseendshallbeaccordingtotheirworks.2Cor.
11:13-15
Howdoesthistransformationhappen?Occultsourcesstatethat"transformation"isthe
outcomeofaseriesofprocessescalledinitiationintotheEasternorWesternMysteries,which
Scriptureterms"thedepthsofSatan"(Rev.2:24).Astheborn-againChristianbecomesanew
creatureinChrist(2Cor.5:17)andisindweltbytheHolySpirit(John14:17),thepersonwho
experiencesoccultinitiationistransformedintoanewcreatureinSatanandisindweltbyone
ormoredevils.Wearetoldthattheadeptsandmastersthechosenfewwhohavegone
beyondtheLesserMysteriesandentertheGreaterMysteriesascendtotheveryThroneof
Godandare"deified".Deification,ofcourse,isonlyanillusion;however,thesehighlevel
initiates,havingexperiencedthe'depthsofSatan',areindweltbyapersonalitythatisnot
theirown.Andacertainnumberofthese"deified"menandwomenhavebeenincarnatedby
devilswhoarecapableofimpersonatingaborn-againChristian.Thuspossessedbyhighly
intelligentsupernaturalentities,wefindmany'wolvesinsheep'sclothing'ontheChristian
scenewhoexhibita"born-again"personality.
Becauseevilspiritscanpersuasivelymasqueradeasministersofrighteousness,theelectmust
lookbeyondoutwardappearancesandexercisetheirspiritualsensestodiscernbetweengood
andevil.Thisrequiresaspiritualperceptivityabovethelowlevelexhibitedbynominal
Christianity,forSatancreatesfirst-classimagesforhismostvaluableministers.Satan's

Inourongoingstudyofmysticism/occultism/spiritualism,weoftenfindthatthe
authorsdenywhattheyareactuallyteaching.(24:14)
Becausefewpeopleareimmunetotheverysophisticatedmindcontroltechniquesin
operationtodayandthisincludesChristiansmostfailtorecognizethiswidelyusedtactic:
ANewAgerinChristiangarbwillpromoteanoccultdoctrinesuchaspantheismor
theosophyorgnosticismorastrology,butinterjectaparagraphortwo,orevenachapter,
condemningtheverypracticeheorsheispromoting.Usually,adistinctionismadebetween
the*occult*formofthefalsedoctrineandthe*Christian*version,whichisofGod,while

Usingthislineofreasoning,Dr.D.JamesKennedyhasbuiltacaseforBiblicalastrologyin
hisbook,TheRealMeaningoftheZodiac.ThissurprisinglypopularbookisbasedonThe
WitnessoftheStarsbyE.W.BullingerandJosephSeiss'AGospelintheStars,publishedin1893
and1882respectively.A19th-centuryEnglishclassicistandlinguist,FrancesRolleston,had
previouslypopularizedthetheoryofa'gospelinthestars'withherbook,Mazzaroth:The
Constellations,publishedin1863.ExceptforMissRolleston,allwereProtestantministers
BullingerwasanAnglicanminister,SeissaLutheranpreacherandKennedyisaPresbyterian
minister.
ItseemsthatE.W.Bullinger'sbookmetwithwidespreaddisapprovalamongChristiansinhis
day.InE.W.Bullinger:ABiography,JuanitaS.CareyrevealsthatdiscerningChristians
recognizedtheastrologypromotedinTheWitnessoftheStarsandthebookwaswidely
condemned.Bullinger'sresponsetohiscriticswastostraightawayproduceabookon
anotherformofdivinationoccultnumerology!
In1894,ayearafterpublicationofTheWitnessoftheStars,RobertBrown,himself

weshouldworshipGod,theywerechangedintodeities,andpeoplebeganto
worshipthesun,themoon,theplanets,andthestars...
Itiswellthatyouhavenothingtodowithmodernastrologywhatsoever
becauseofitscorruptionandsatanicaspects.Butinorderthatyoumight

loreandlegendsconnectedwithitshistory,thestrangefancieswithwhichinold
timesithasbeenassociated,thehalf-forgottenmythstowhichithasgivenbirth.

Theideathatweareenteringa'NewAge'isrootedinastrology,apseudosciencedevelopedinBabyloniaabout2500yearsago.Ancientastrologers
observedovertimeaslowapparentshiftinginthepositionsofthetwelvemajor
constellationstheyhadidentified,andbelievedthatasignificantchangeinthe
courseofhumanhistorywouldbeginatthosetimeswhenadifferentconstellation
movedintoalignmentwiththesunatthevernalequinox.Eachastrological'age'is
supposedtolastabout2100years.
ContemporaryNewAgedevoteesarecelebratingthenotionthatwearenow
enteringthe'AgeofAquarius,'becausethisconstellationiscomingtooccupythe

Ofcourse,astronomersknowthatthemovementoftheconstellationsinspace
hasnothingtodowiththewaytheyareviewedfromearth.Thewholesystemof
astrologywasconstructedonthebasisoftheerroneousbeliefthattheearthwas
thecenteroftheuniverse,andtheheavenlybodiesallrevolvedaroundit.In
reality,theapparentshiftinthepositionoftheconstellationsiscausedbythe
precessionoftheearth'saxis.
OneoftheancientthinkerswhoadvancedastrologywastheEgyptian
Ptolemy,wholivedinthesecondcenturyA.D.Ptolemybelievedthattheearth
wasatthecenteroftheuniverse,andthattheplanets,sun,andstarsrevolved
