6. Sacred Rites, Practices, and Procedures :

The Central Jewish observance is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. On Friday evening, mother of

the observers will light the Sabbath Candles. 3

At services, it consist of reading bible, praying and singing songs. 3

At weddings the groom is suppose to break a glass with his foot. 3


When a relative dies, they are suppose to tear their clothes. 3

Grape products not made by Jews may not be eaten 5

Meat cannot be eaten with dairy although fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables and grains can 5

Rosh-Hashanah- New Year3

Yom Kipper- Day of Atonement ; fast and confess sins3

Pesach- Passover 2 ; Can't eat, own or benefit from chametz during Pesach 1

Chanukah ; Not as important as the other holidays, through the 9 days candles are light according to the day

10. Sects or different groups within the religion:

A boy or girl who reaches 12 or 13 they are consider to be in the adult society 4

Rabbi- a person who serves a congregation after a long hard study 3

11. Historic or Currents Conflicts:

Judaism started after the Romans destroyed the second temple at Israel 2

Holocaust- Zionism 3

Creation of the state of Israel in 1948 3
