Anandsutram: The spiritual

philosophy of Sri Anandmurti

A sutra is an aphorisman expression of a sublime or subtle idea in a minimum
number of words. Literally, sutra means a thread which can connect many things
and can be interwoven with other threads. Ananda means divine blissthe
internal esctacy experienced subjectively, not as a result of any external sensual
pleasure, but from the direct experience of higher states of consciousness. Ananda
is the highest happiness, the only permanent happiness, and thus it is the ultimate
goal of human life.
BRAHMA CAKRA

This is the basic concept of Ananda Marga philosophythat the Supreme Entity is
One but has two aspects: the Cognitive Principle and the Operative Principle, Shiva
and Shakti.It is impossible to conceive of one entity without the other;
Consciousness and its energy of creation are as inseperable as fire and heat, as
milk and its whiteness, as two sides of a piece of paper. This concept has often been
depicted symbolically in the image of a hermaphrodite(man and woman in the same
body), or in Indian sculpture as two lovers locked in a tight embrace. In this sutra
the term atamakam has been used to express the relationship : Brahma is a
composite of, the combined name of, Consciousness and the Operative Principle.
Brahma is not a third entity.

Shakti is the force of Shiva. Forst of all, what is Shakti or Prakrti?

Pra karoti iti Prakrti, that is, Prakrti means the force creating kinds. It is on
account of Prakrti alone that the existence of (humans) and animals, of plants and
matter is appreciated within the eternal, Infinite and Perfect Brahma. In other words,
the cosmic force responsible for the creation of this world abounding in Varieties
and kinds is called Prakrti.
The word Prakrti is not equal to the word nature of the English Language. As a
matter of fact, nature is the property (dharma) of Prakrti. Whatever Prakrti does is
commonly known as nature.Prakrti comprises of three attributes (gunas).
The plain philosophic meaning of guna is a binding stringa string used to bind
some objects. Here, guna connotes the Cosmic force whereby the Universal
Consciousness is bound to various shapes or ideas.
The three gunas are:
1. Sattvaguna(sentient force). Sattvaguna gives the sense of existence, the
feeling of I am. Under the bondage of sattvaguna, Mahattattva, the

subjectivated I feeling, is created from the Cosmic consciousness. Sattvaguna

imparts happiness and a sense of relief; it awakens the desire to seek
liberation from bondages. Its vibrational colur is white.
2. Rajoguna(mutative force). Rajoguna is chsracterized by action, it wants to
keep the I busy with action and then enjoy the results of the action. It is the
sense of doership, it activates the I. Under its bondage the Ahamtattva is
created from Mahattattva Its vibrational colour is red.
3. Tamoguna(static force). Tamoguna gives the sense of Objectivity in the
cosmic mind, to create cosmic citta, the objective portion of Mind. Under its
further bondage the physical world is created with its five fundamental
factors. Tamoguna is the force of inertia; it gives the result of the action. It
expresses the reaction to the action. Our minds are associated with the
created world because of the Static principle. Its Vibrational Colour is Black.
