What is Wages Protection System (WPS)?

One of the many actions taken by State of Qatar to

improve the welfare of the workers in Qatar

Fully integrated and centralized solution at QCB for

collecting, storing and providing the data about
payments of employee wages made through bank
transfers.

Objective of WPS

Safeguard the basic rights of employees in obtaining

the wages on time and as per their contract

Labor Law on WPS?

On July 10th, 2014 the Cabinet of Qatar has approved the draft law
amending some provisions of the Labor Law No. (14) of 2004.
According to the amendment, all the Regulated entities must
transfer the workers wages to their (workers) accounts at one of
the banks in Qatar.

MoLSA will be able to monitor salary payments made to all the

employees in the country and take actions against violators.

WPS with Commercial Bank

Commercial bank offers payroll processing services to most of its
corporate and business customers.
Considering the importance of WPS bank worked closely with QCB in
developing the system for its customers and integrating with QCB.
Commercial bank offers fully integrated WPS.

Process

Registration
Form available on Commercial Bank website in writeable PDF
format.
Completed form to be submitted at any of the corporate branches.
File preparation
File format/specification available on the website
All conditions must be adhered.
Salary Information File (SIF) in .CSV (comma separated value) only.
Testing

Branches (Data sheet and covering letter) and soft copy of the SIF in .csv
format to be sent to salary@cbq.qa
Confirmation
Successful credit will be notified via email to the Originator (if CIB) and
Sender (if submitted thru email).
Rejections will be notified via the same channel.
Successful validation from QCB will block the total amount in the
account of the corporate.
The file will be processed by Commercial Bank the same day only if the
successful validation is received before 12.00 P.M on a working day.
The entire file will be rejected even if one employee information is
incorrect.

Conditions

SIF should be in the prescribed format

Employees must have bank accounts in Qatari banks

Only Commercial Bank Paycards can be processed
Employees must be paid in Qatari Riyals only
