IMPORTANT

Factory Radio Removal

Before starting, compare items on your invoice with items received.


Carefully check through packaging material. If any item is missing,
please call Crutchfield Technical Service at 1-800-955-9094.

1.

Set parking brake and disconnect negative


battery cable to prevent any electrical short.

2.

Pry out bottom of receiver trimpanel with


a panel tool. Pull trimpanel outward and
downward, disconnect electrical connectors
and remove.

3.

Remove four (4) screws securing factory


radio/accessories assembly. Pull out
assembly, disconnect electrical connectors
and remove assembly. If not equipped
with factory radio: Remove two (2)
phillips screws from dummy plate and
remove.

4.

Remove four (4) phillips screws (two on


each side) securing factory radio to side
brackets and remove radio.

Reassembly
Wiring

Inspect factory receiver harness connector in vehicle. Ensure that the wiring adaptor purchased from Crutchfield
plugs into the vehicles connector. If the connector is missing or cannot be located, please call our Technical
Service department at 1-800-955-9094.

Kit Assembly

Assemble receiver and kit following instructions supplied with the installation kit.

Harness Connection
NOTE: If your vehicle is not equipped with an antenna,
proceed now with Antenna Installation, page 4.

Shaft Receiver Installation


Note: If replacing a 4 tall factory receiver, a dash pocket
(Crutchfield part # 081TOYPOC) will be needed to fill bottom
portion of dash opening. If you did not receiver this part, call
a Crutchfield Sales Advisor at 1-800-955-3000.

1.

Hold accessories assembly near dash opening connect


electrical connectors. Secure assembly to dash as shown,
with two (2) phillips screws previously removed.

2.

Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect receiver wiring


adaptor to vehicle harness and plug in antenna lead. Align
mounting holes in receiver mounting bracket with mounting holes
in factory side brackets. Secure receiver with screws previously
removed.

3.

Reconnect electrical connectors and reinstall receiver


trimpanel.

4.

Secure receiver faceplate with


shaftnuts and attach control knobs.
Test receiver operation.

Reassembly
Wiring

Inspect factory receiver harness connector in vehicle. Ensure that the wiring adaptor purchased from Crutchfield

Kit Assembly

Assemble receiver and kit following instructions supplied with the installation kit.

Harness Connection
NOTE: If your vehicle is not equipped with an antenna,

ISO-DIN Receiver Installation


Note: If replacing a 4 tall factory receiver, a dash pocket
(Crutchfield part # 081TOYPOC) will be needed to fill bottom
portion of dash opening. If you did not receiver this part, call
a Crutchfield Sales Advisor at 1-800-955-3000.

Align mounting holes in sides of


replacement receiver with mounting
holes in factory side brackets (see
Inset). Secure receiver to side brackets
with screws previously removed or
supplied with receiver. Note screw
length warnings on the side of the
receiver.

2.

Hold receiver/accessories assembly


near dash opening. Connect receiver
wiring adaptor to factory harness and
plug in antenna lead. Secure assembly
to dash with screws previously
removed.

3.

Test receiver operation and reinstall


receiver trimpanel.

Antenna Replacement
1.

Remove receiver by referring to page


1 of this Master Sheet. Disconnect
the antenna connector and tie or tape
a string to the antenna lead at the
receiver location.

2.

Remove two (2) phillips screws


securing antenna base and pull the
antenna out of the pillar. If no
antenna is present: Remove the
cover plate.

3.

Tie or tape the string from old


antenna lead to replacement antenna
lead and route lead to the receiver
location. Connect the antenna lead
and re-install the receiver..

Speaker Replacement

1.

Remove two (2) recessed phillips screws and remove


armrest.

2.

Remove one (1) phillips screw from door release, slide


release toward front of vehicle and allow it to hang.

3.

Use shop rag with a shoeshine motion to release C


clip and remove window crank (see Inset).

4.

Pry around edges of door panel to release retaining clips.


Pull off door panel allowing door release to slip through
opening.

SAFETY CHECK

Check that wires do not interfere with window operation.


Test door lock operation.

Armrest

Remove four (4) phillips screws securing speaker. Pull


out speaker, clip speaker wires and remove speaker.

6.

Connect speaker wiring adaptors to speakers following


instructions supplied with adaptors or connect wire
terminals to speakers making sure polarity is correct.

7.

Secure speaker to door with screws previously removed.

8.

Test speaker operation and reassemble door by reversing


disassembly steps.

INSET

1.

1. Press in center pin (Figure 1), then pry out one (1)
retaining clip from upper front area of door
panel.

2. Remove one (1) phillips screw from inside door


release cup.

3. Remove one (1) phillips screw located under door


pull handle.

4. Carefully lift armrest to release three (3) clips


and remove armrest. Remove two (2) phillips
screws exposed by armrest removal.

5. Use a shop rag with a shoeshine motion to


release C clip on rear of window
crank and remove crank (Figure 2).

6. Pry around edges of door panel to


release ten (10) retaining clips. Lift door
panel to remove.

7. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing speaker

to door. Pull out speaker, clip speaker wires and


remove speaker.

8. Secure speaker to speaker adaptor bracket


following instructions supplied with adaptor
bracket.

9. Connect speaker wiring adaptor or connect


terminals to speakers making sure polarity is
correct.

10. Secure speaker/bracket assembly to door with


hardware supplied (Figure 3).

11. Test speaker operation and reassemble door by


reversing disassembly steps.

1. Press in center pin (Figure 1), then pry out one (1)
retaining clip from upper front area of door
panel.

2. Remove one (1) phillips screw from inside door


release cup.

3. Remove one (1) phillips screw located under door

7. Remove factory speaker bracket if present.

terminals to speakers making sure polarity is
correct.

9. Secure speaker to speaker adaptor bracket


following instructions supplied with adaptor
bracket. Secure speaker/bracket assembly
to door with hardware supplied (Figure 3).

Speaker Replacement

Rear Speakers
(if vehicle is factory equipped with speakers)

1.

Secure replacement speaker to speaker adaptor


bracket by following instructions supplied with adaptor
bracket. Insert screw anchors (supplied with
adaptor bracket) in deck as shown in Figure 3.

Press in center pins, then pry out two (2) retaining


clips securing brake light cover. Pry off cover.
Remove two (2) 10mm bolts from brake light
assembly. Lift assembly, disconnect and remove
(Figure 1).

4.

Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement to


vehicle speaker connector. Secure speaker/bracket
assembly (Figure 4) into anchors with screws
supplied.

5.

Test operation and reassemble by reversing steps.

Speaker/Bracket
Assembly

From inside the trunk, use pliers to squeeze and push


up white retaining clips under rear deck panel. (four in
Paseo -- nine in Tercel). Inside vehicle, remove rear
deck panel (Figure 2) by lifting and pulling. Remove
speaker by removing three (3) phillips screws from
bracket.

Rear Speakers
(if vehicle is not factory equipped with speakers)

1.

From inside trunk, center speaker template (supplied


with speaker) at speaker location and mark cut-out
area in rear deck panel (Figure 1).

From inside the trunk, use pliers to squeeze and push


up white retaining clips under rear deck panel. (four in
Paseo -- nine in Tercel). Inside vehicle, remove rear
deck panel by lifting and pulling. Cut out speaker
opening with a utility knife (Figure 3).

Press in center pins, then pry out two (2) retaining


clips securing brake light cover. Pry off cover.
Remove two 10mm bolts from brake light assembly.
Lift assembly, disconnect and remove (Figure 2).

Secure replacement speaker to


speaker adaptor bracket by following
instructions supplied with adaptor
bracket. Insert screw anchors
(supplied with adaptor bracket) in
deck as shown in Figure 4.

Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement to vehicle speaker
connector. Secure speaker/bracket
assembly (Figure 5) into anchors
with screws supplied.
