To

Whom It May Concern:

My name is Kristin Rector and I am a Recreational Therapist. I feel that I would be
an asset to your team and would love the opportunity to work with your facility.

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to find a career that would allow me to do
something positive with my life, something that could benefit others as well as
myself. After finding the Therapeutic Recreation major at the University of Utah, I
knew that I had found an outlet for my passions.

Growing up, I attended a mainstream grade school, where children of all abilities
studied. All my lessons were taught in both American Sign Language (ASL) and
spoken English, and nearly all of my best friends were individuals that were
considered disabled. However, I never saw any of them as being any different than
I was: we were all just goofy kids and our differences seemed negligible. Now that I
am older I still believe that the differences between individuals are insignificant, yet
I am able to recognize how many barriers face individuals that have different
abilities. I am passionate about helping people overcome those barriers in order to
live more full, satisfying lives in whichever areas those individuals choose to pursue.

I enjoy working with people of all age groups, but my specific passion definitely lies
in working with children and adolescents. I have experience working with youth of
all abilities, from individuals with hearing impairments, to those with severe
cognitive impairments, to those suffering from severe mental illness.

I am an avid outdoors-person, and my passions include rock climbing, mountain
biking, skiing, trail running, hiking, and backpacking. I also enjoy reading, knitting,
playing guitar, singing, and playing fetch with my dog Summit. I am, by all means, a
Lord of the Rings fanatic and a proud geek, and think that laughter and a good
attitude are the best medicines in life. I am proficient in American Sign Language
and have a very rudimentary knowledge of braille.

I believe that I would make a great fit for your facility, and would love to be
considered for the Recreational Therapist position. Please feel free to contact me at
801-783-8189 or kmrector@hotmail.com for more information. I look forward to
hearing from you.

Thank you,

Kristin Rector
