Traffic congestion is a critical problem which happens on roads which make traffic
busy because roads full of cars and buses. Traffic congestion challenges traffic flow
in urban area and is prevented smooth traffic. A growing urban area creates complex
problems in daily life with traffic. Congestion phenomenon's cannot be terminated
only by applying physical constructing such as: build bridge, motorways and
increasing road capacity. It is necessary to build technology system for
transportation management which is used for control of the traffic phenomenon.
Traffic control systems have direct influence on traffic problems which is help to
improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion. Usually, traffic jams are caused
by many reasons such as incidents, works in roads, roads maintenance.
Approximately, traffic congestion occurs at peak times in the morning or evening
when people are travelling to work. In addition, transportation systems are one of
the main reasons causing traffic congestion in some countries. Traffic roads have a
direct effect on traffic jams which relate to small ways use or damaged ways.
Traffic congestion is complex phenomenon which is related to a number of cars on
the road at the same times which is hinder motion and need extra time to reach
destinations. In fact, traffic congestion is usually recurring or non recurring
phenomenon. Always, recurring traffic congestion is appeared by daily event in a
certain times which is solved reorganize suitable planning. On the other hand, non
recurring traffic congestion is unexpected and unusual event cause by an incident
which is suddenly reduced road capacity. In addition, road capacity is one of the
main reason cause traffic congestion when the number of cars on the road increases
than the road capacity.
Control system is approach to remedy traffic phenomenons by applying
technology, programming and tolls. In the end of 18th century, the first control
system was applied in London by traffic light which was used to organize traffic
motion on London old bridge. A growing in urban area encourage government to
invent and apply a new technology has ability to reduce traffic problems which is
called traffic control system. The aim of this section is to describe effect traffic
congestion by traffic control system because traffic control system has direct
influence on traffic problems which is helped to improve traffic flow and solve
6
traffic problems by apply a number of system factors such as: traffic lights; road
pricing; travel times; gasoline tax; transit fare and speed limitation.
The most type of problem that is happening in big cities is traffic congestion.
Traffic congestion has high impact on smooth traffic which cause limes lose, work
opportunity and energy consumption. However, traffic congestion has influenced in
the city live which become extremely complicated and difficult for life. The most
common with traffic congestion are road accident and road capacity which can be
blockage traffic flow in cities or in country side for example in London congestion
occur in some area not during peak time always during all day which cause time
loses and it become serious problem which encourage the governments to find out
solution for this phenomenon to decrease it and avoid many problems relate with
traffic congestion which can be make life smooth and uncomplicated. Transportation
system challenges by traffic congestion which is importance to develop
transportation systems by using new methods and useful technology which can
alleviated or decreased level of congestion in urban area. According to point out that
traffic congestion is recurring and non recurring congestion which is appeared when
volume increase than road capacity traffic in a certain times. Always, recurring
traffic congestion connect with daily event thought non recurring traffic congestion
connect with unexpected event by road incident or road works. This phenomenon
has been studied by many researchers which aim to find approaches or solution for
traffic congestion.
OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
7
To study the perception of males and females towards existing Traffic system of
Indore city
Hypothesis OF STUDY
H01: There is no significance difference between the perception of males and
females towards existing Traffic system of Indore city.
Ha1: There is a significant difference between the perception of male and females
towards traffic system in Indore.

Sample Size
The total sample size was 52 from male and female in different age group.
Data Analysis
Data has been entered into MS-Excel sheets. After the exhaustion of the specified
geographical area, this data has analyzed using the different inbuilt formulae of
Microsoft excel this will also help us in making the simple graphical and tabulation
techniques. This data will help us in analyzing the outcome of the research.
Tools used for research as the research is descriptive so the tool used for analyzing
the data that can be collected from questionnaires is T-test and other primary tools
needed for questionnaire design and data collection. We used T-test to check the
impact gender on Traffic system.

Interpretation
As p value is 0.388 which is greater than 0.05 which implies that null hypothesis is
rejected. This also infers that there is significant difference between the perception
of males and females with respect to traffic system in Indore.

SCOPE OF STUDY
The scope of the study is very vast, as an individual can do further research related
to perception towards current traffic system and he/she could take it to global level.
If an individual wants to do a depth in this research he/she can apply or use more
tools.

LIMITATIONS
The thing is, we have too many cars on our roads, and our roads are not
designed to take in so many cars. The too many junctions and intersections,
not to mention the roundabouts, add to the time-wasting. Poor road
management skills by those planning deviations also aggravate the issue.
We have so many cars because our lifestyle is good. There is a private car
for every adult member of our society. But the real reason for this state of
affairs is not the money we make and how we spend it it is the poor public
transport system we have since time immemorial.
If the bus service was good, fewer people would use their private cars, and it
would be much cheaper for them to do so. But starting off from the old bus
service, going on to Arrival and coming up to what we have today, our bus
service continues to be inefficient, unreliable and a total shambles.
A bad public transport service and matters continue to go from bad to worse
no matter the effort put into it leaves drivers with no other option but to use
their own vehicles. I am sure that many people would leave their cars at
home if the public transport service is good. But they cannot take risks of
arriving late at the office, if at all, given that it has often happened that buses
do not turn up.

CONCLUSION
Nowadays Indore, the commercial capital of MP, is battling with the problem of
poor traffic management. Though the traffic has increased manifold on the city
roads, no required measures have been taken by authorities to control it in a right
manner.
Yes, the traffic police are present almost at every square and heavy traffic areas, but
not to control the traffic. They pay more attention towards cutting challans. Traffic
lights at many squares are not working and the ones that work, often remain off
due to power cuts. Recently a group of bikers have gained notoriety since their sole
purpose seems to be to just break all the traffic rules and perform dangerous stunts
on the heavily crowded roads during prime traffic hours.
Because of augmenting traffic problem, an increase in the number of road accidents
has been witnessed. People can be seen hanging from the doors of blue buses and
city vans - a recent addition to the traffic system - which is that they can be seen
racing with each other to make sure that they reach the next stop first to get
maximum commuters. The competition between buses and vans, stunts being
performed by daredevil bikers, faulty traffic lights and traffic constables busy in
squeezing out the last penny from the people has created traffic chaos in the city.
Due to all this mismanagement the number of fatal accidents has also increased in
the city. It has become impossible for the elderly citizens to drive on the city roads
because the term traffic rules does not exist in the city.
It seems that the traffic officials have no fear of the law, as they themselves drive
without helmet or go triple seat on a scooter. They are actually responsible for the
deaths in road accidents and corrective steps should be taken immediately to curb
this menace before any more lives are lost.
