The moving contacts of a circuit breaker are mounted on operating rods made of
resin-impregnated laminated wood or paper-base laminate. In the older and
smaller breakers these rods extend through holes in the tops of the tanks to a common crossbar or to cranks on a 10 FAULT CLEARING-POWER CIRCUIT BREAKERS common shaft, thus permitting group operation of all poles of the breaker.
