SUB-GROUP ON TRAFFIC DECLARES


12 ROADS AS HIGH DENSITY ROADS AND
SIX ROADS AS SIGNAL-FREE ROADS IN BENGALURU
BENGALURU, JULY 30 (Karnataka Information):

A meeting of the Sub-Group on Traffic of the Vision Group


on Bengaluru decided to declare as many as 12 roads
as high density roads and six roads as signal-free roads
in the State Capital.
The meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary to Government
Aravind Jadhav took a decision to declare twelve roads
Ramana Maharshi Road - Mekhri Circle to Windsor Manor
junction, Hudson Circle area, Central Silk Board junction to
Jayadeva Hospital flyover, Bannerghatta Road between
Dairy Circle to Sagar Hospital, K. R. Puram Benniganahalli
to Mahadevapura flyover, Old Madras Road Double Road
to Big Bazaar, Hebbal Flyover, White Field area, Outer Ring Road
BEL to FTS Circle, Outer Ring Road Mahadevapura to Iblur ,
Mysuru
Road
and
Silk
Board
to
Vellara
Junction
as high density roads.

The Group also decided to implement New Traffic Circulation


Plans on Hosur Sarjapur Road, Manyatha Tech Park on ORR,
K. R. Puram, Benniganhalli, Bellandur and Whitefield areas.
Allow to ply BMTC buses through Russell Market road
to ease traffic on Cunningham Road, Synchronisation of
Signal Lights on important corridors, intensive drives against
Drag Racing and Wheeling, revive Citizens Traffic Forum Meeting,
Safe Routes to Schools, Road Safety Training programmes
for all School bus and van drivers, introduce new
Public-Eye Mobile App, initiate booking of cases under
Section 283 IPC against Road and Footpath hawkers,
initiate booking of cases against Jay-walkers to reduce road
accident fatalities, introduce Pre-paid Auto stands at
13 important places, Strict Enforcement of Traffic Rules
on all Tender SURE roads, Compulsory Training for
Traffic offenders, Open Street Concept, Fill Potholes, take up
Asphalting, Water logging, Opening of Second Road towards BIAL,
Enhance traffic Fines , Purchase Towing Vehicle for Traffic Police,
increase Towing Rates to be Repair works, Completion of
Pending Railway Over Bridge, Bridges or Underpass,
Provisioning of Skywalk on ORR, Separate Bus Bays or Pedestrian
Holding Bays, De-silting of Drains, Signal Free Corridors,
Old
Madras Road , ORR Doddanakundi , OM road
Mutthumariamma temple, PF Junction, Near Coffee Board
Junction, Rajbhavan Road, Church Street, Khoday Circle,
Goodshed Main Road and Kasturba road are some of
the plans in the offing.

To take up repairs of the BWSSB manhole damaged


inside Cubbon Park Press Club opposite, Basaveshwara Circle,
Richmond Road beneath Flyover, Additional Manpower for
Traffic Traffic Police Assistants Project, Ban on movement of
Trucks on city roads during day time, Ban on movement
of Tractors and Trailers, Ban on Stage Carriage buses within
Outer Ring Road, Staggering of work timings of IT Companies,
Promoting Public Transport, Car Pooling, Traffic Gating at
Outskirts, Old Madras Road Trinity Circle to K.R.Puram
Railway Station and up to Hope Form Junction, Old Airport Road
ASC Center to Varthur Kodi , Sharjapura Road St. John Hospital
to Dommasandra Junction, Outer Ring Road from HSR Layout
4th Sector to Jayadeva Flyover and upto Rajalakshmi Kalyan
Mantap, R. V. Road, J.C. Road and Kempegowda Road from
South-End Circle to Rajajinagar Entrance, Hosur-Lashkar Road
from St. John Hospital to Vellara Junction, continuing on to
Museum Road and St. Marks Road., Road Marking and
Curb
painting,
Restoration
of
Basement
for
parking,
Implementation of Comprehensive Parking Policy, Restoration of
roads in Whitefield, Development of link roads in Whitefield area,
Establishment of Private bus terminals, Multi-level car park
facility in CBD , Implementation of K.R. Puram to Silk Board
Traffic Intervention Plan, Restoration of Service Road on ORR,
Priority Intervention at BTM Layout ORR, Early completion of ROB
at Jalahalli ORR, Widening of Hebbal Flyover, Peripheral Ring
Road
(PRR)
are
some
of
the
suggestions
under
serious consideration.

Shifting of 122 Bus stops or shelters located near


intersections, Training of Drivers to stop at bus stops only,
Procurement of additional cranes., Mobile Workshop at
Marathhalli and K.R.Puram, besides Additional buses after 9.00pm
have also been given thought of.
The Sub-Group has recommended Commuter Rail Service
on existing rail lines. City Railway station to Whitefield via
Contonment, Bengaluru east and Byappanahalli City Railway
station to Chikkabanavara via Malleswaram and Yeshwanthpura,
Yeshwanthapura to Yelahanka via Hebbal, Yeshwanthapura to
Chandapura via Banasawadi, City Railway station to Bidadi
via Nayandanahalli, University and Kengeri, Procedural Changes
for Transfer of vehicles, Automatic suspension or cancellation of
driving license for 03 traffic violations, Issue of Annual
Fitness Certificate should be linked with automation enforcement,
Seizure of Transport Vehicles plying without permit and
Ban
on
private
bus
permits
till
establishment
of
private bus terminals are some of the other suggestions.
