Function
When the cylinder valve (G1) and flame regulator (A) are open gas flows through the gas hose (G7) and into the corresponding burner. A battery-operated igniter generates sparks on the burners which ignite the gas. The heat can then be controlled
by using the flame regulators (A). If the gas supply is closed via a flame regulator (A), the flame is extinguished.

LANDMANN 5

LANDMANN 7

Residual risks
Danger "Hot surfaces and parts"
During operationg some parts of the barcebue can get very hot, particularly those near
the burner.
Possible consequences:
Severe burns from touching parts near the burners.
Fire or smoldering fire if flammable materials or substances are near the barbecue.
Safety measures prior to using the barbecue:

When setting up the barbecue, make sure that

there are not, and will not be, any flammable materials or substances nearby.
the minimum distance to flammable materials or substances is 2 m above and 1
m to the side of the barbecue.
Minimum distance to flame resistant materials or substances, e.g. house walls:
0.25 m.
the barbecue is positioned firmly on a sufficiently large surface area. It must not
be moved during operation.
Pull the holding brake on the right castor during operation.
Safety measures while barbecuing:
Wear protective barbecue gloves.
Never leave the hot barbecue unattended. Keep children, mentally or physically
handicapped persons and pets at a safe distance.

8 LANDMANN

Danger Gas is highly flammable

Liquid gas is highly flammable and explosive.

Possible consequences:

Serious personal injury or damage to property if escaping gas ignites in an environment

in which it is not controlled.

Safety measures:

Only use the barbecue outdoors and ensure that the area is well-ventilated.
Protect the gas cylinder and the gas hose from direct sunlight and other sources of heat
(max. 50C). Take particular care to ensure that the gas hose does not touch any part of
the hot barbecue.
Do not lean over the barbecue when igniting the gas flame. Stand as far away as possible.
Close the valve on the gas cylinder immediately after each use (turn the valve clockwise).
Never leave the barbecue unattended. If the flame extinguishes, relight it immediately
or cut off the supply from the gas cylinder.
When connecting the gas cylinder make sure that there are no sources of ignition within
a 5 m radius.
Take special care not to light any naked flames, do not smoke or switch on electric appliances (devices, lights, door bells), etc. (sparkover possible).
Before each use, make sure that all gas connections are sealed and intact. Even the
smallest of leaks can be dangerous.
If necessary, replace the hose in order to comply with the corresponding national requirements.
The barbecue must not be used if the connections for the gas supply are porous or faulty.
This also applies, for example, to hoses or fittings blocked by insects, as this can produce
a dangerous flashback.
Do not store spare gas cylinders near the barbecue.

LANDMANN 9

Danger "Gas displaces oxygen"

Liquid gas is heavier than oxygen. Therefore it settles on the ground and displaces the oxygen
at that level.

Possible consequences:

Suffocation resulting from a lack of oxygen if the gas concentration is allowed to increase
sufficiently.

Safety measures:

10 LANDMANN

Only use the barbecue outdoors in a well ventilated area and above ground (i.e. not in
areas that are below ground level).
Close the valve on the gas cylinder immediately after each use (turn the valve clockwise).
Never leave the barbecue unattended. If the flame extinguishes, relight it immediately
or cut off the supply from the gas cylinder.
Before each use, make sure that all gas connections are sealed and intact. Even the
smallest of leaks can be dangerous.
If necessary, replace the hose in order to comply with the corresponding national requirements.
The barbecue must not be used if the connections for the gas supply are porous or faulty.
If the barbecue is not being used for a prolonged period, cut off the supply from the gas
cylinder and store properly:
Fit the gas cylinder valve with a cap nut and safety cap.
Do not store the gas cylinder in rooms below ground level, in or near stairways,
hallways or passages and thoroughfares between buildings.
Always store gas cylinders upright, even if they are empty!

Assembly
Before starting
Here are a few tips to help you assemble your barbecue quickly and successfully:

Check that no parts are missing by placing all of the individual parts on an empty surface (we reserve the right to make
minor technical alterations, such as the content of the small parts bag).
If, despite careful factory checks, a component should be missing, please contact our customer service department (see
last page). We will immediately attend to your request.
Remove all of the packing material.
Sort out the small parts, as some of the screws and bolts, for example, are very similar and can be easily confused.
You will need the following for the assembly:
A medium sized screwdriver and suitable spanners (fork, ring or box spanner).
Another person who can help you with the assembly.
You will need a flat spanner (AF17) to connect the gas cylinder.
CAUTION

Only use tools that are intact and suitable for the job at hand. Worn or unsuitable
tools will not allow you to tighten the nuts and bolts sufficiently and may damage
them so that they can no longer be turned.
Always fit all connecting elements (screws, bolts, nuts, etc.) as shown in the following illustrations. If you misplace a connecting element, replace it with an appropriate part. Only by doing this can you ensure that the construction is strong and safe.
Be sure to follow the instructions in the specified order!
Read the text for each step before carrying it out, as useful information is sometimes
only provided at the end of the section.
Even if you are not experienced at DIY, assembly does not generally take longer than one hour.

Connecting the gas cylinder

Danger "Ignition of escaping gas"
Liquid gas is highly flammable and explosive.
Possible consequences:

Severe injury or damage to propety canoccur if the gas ignites in an uncontrolled environment.
Safety measures:

When connecting the gas cylinder ensure that there are no sources of ignition within a
5 m radius.
Take special care not to light any naked flames, do not smoke or switch on electric appliances (devices, lights, door bells), etc. (sparkover possible).
If necessary, replace the hose in order to comply with the corresponding national requirements.

1. Select a suitable place to set up the barbecue. Make sure that ...
there are not, and will not be, any flammable materials or substances nearby. Minimum distance to flammable
materials or substances: 2 m above and 1 m to the side; distance to highly flammable materials or substances:
min 0.25 m.
Note: The smoke escapes from the grill hood positioned at the rear of the barbecue. It can therefore result in fouling
objects that are located close to the rear of the barbecue.

base of the cart. Place the gas cylinder retaining clip over the
gas cylinder. Never lay the gas cylinder on its side. The
gas hose must not be kinked or under tension.
3. Check to make sure that the seal of the cylinder valve thread
(G2) is present and intact. Do not use any additional seals.

4. Connect the coupling nut (G3) of the pressure regulator to the cylinder valve thread (G2) and tighten the coupling nut
(G3) by turning it anti-clockwise by hand. Do not use any tools for this as they can cause damage to the cylinder valve
seal, which will result in impairing the tightness of the connection and a loss of warranty.
5. Check that the pressure reducer (G4) and the gas hose (G7) are securely connected. To do this turn the coupling nut (G6)
anti-clockwise using a 17mm flat spanne Check the connection between the gas hose (G7) and the adjusting element
(underneath the front panel) in the same way.
6. Open the cylinder valve (turn G1 anti-clockwise) and use a standard leak detector to make sure that all of the connections are tight.
Please observe the instructions for the leak detector!
Never check for leaks using a naked flame. Listening for leaks is not a reliable method of detection.
If a leak is detected, close the cylinder valve immediately (turn G1 clockwise) and tighten the loose connection or
get the leaking part replaced by a specialist. Repeat the leak test!
7. If you do not wish to barbecue immediately, close the cylinder valve (turn G1 clockwise).

If while using the grill it starts to rain, ...

Close the gas cylinder (turn clockwise)

Remove both mains plugs
Allow grill to cool
when all parts of the grill have cooled down, cover the grill with a canvas cover or put it
beneath a roof.
If hot parts of the grill are covered there exists the danger of fire!

Wash the cooking grill thoroughly before barbecuing using warm soapy water and allow to dry completely. Then apply
edible oil to the top side of both parts. Doing this will ensure that the food won't stick easily to the cooking grill.
1. Check to ensure that ....

Igniting main burner 1, 2, 3 and 4

LANDMANN 19

DANGER: Severe burns caused by gas deflagration

When a flame regulator (A1, A2) is operated gas flows into the burner. This gas burns
rapidly when ignited.
For your own safety:
Only ignite the burners when the grill hood is open; doing this avoids it being
thrown up in the event of possible deflagration.
Do not lean over the barbecue while actuating the flame regulator. Maintain the greatest possible distance to avoid being burnt in the event of possible
deflagration.
1. Open the grill hood and check that the flame regulator of the rotisserie burner (A4) is set to "OFF", as the rear infrared
burner may not be used at the same time as the main burners.
Keep a safe distance from the burners during the next few steps.
2. Press a flame regulator (A1 or A2) and turn it anti-clockwise to the
"High" setting.

A1
A2
B

3. Press the ignition button (B) immediately and keep it depressed for
approx. 4 seconds.
Clicking noises indicate that the igniter is firing up.
If the gas in the burner does not ignite within the 4 seconds,
turn the flame regulator (A1, A2) back to "OFF", wait for 5
minutes and then repeat steps 2 to 3.

Alternatively you can also ignite a burner by using a match. If you are doing this it is imperative you use the match
holder located in the cart. Without this you may burn yourself. Keep as far away from the burner as possible. Stick the
match holder and match through the grill from above near the burner you wish to ignite. Then press the appropriate
flame regulator (A1, A2) and turn it counterclockwise to "High".
4. To ignite the other main burners repeat steps 2 and 3 using the appropriate flame regulators for the burners.
5. Close the lid and allow the barbecue to heat up at full power.
The first time you use the barbecue allow it to heat up for approximately 20 minutes before adding any food; this will
allow the food-safe coating to harden (as is the case with any oven).
6. When the barbecue has heated up sufficiently turn the flame regulator to the desired setting (size of flame).
We do not recommend operating the barbecue at maximum heat output for a prolonged period, as the casing will become very hot and may be damaged. Make sure you open the hood from time to time when using the infrared burners,
as these generate a copious amount of heat.
Stainless steel parts may discolour through the effect of the heat. This is a normal occurrence and is not a cause
for complaint.
7. You can now place your food on the grill. We recommend that you wear barbecue gloves or other gloves to protect you
from the heat.
To switch off the burners (extinguish the flame) press and turn the flame regulators (A1, A2) clockwise to
"OFF". The gas supply is only disconnected if all the flame regulators have been set to OFF.

Igniting the side burner

20 LANDMANN

DANGER: Severe burns caused by gas deflagration

When operating the flame regulator (A3), gas flows into the side burner. This gas burns
rapidly when ignited.
For your own safety:
Only ignite the side burner when the side burner lid is open; doing this avoids
it being thrown up in the event of possible deflagration.
Do not lean over the side burner while actuating the flame regulator.
Maintain the greatest possible distance to avoid being burnt in the event of
possible deflagration.
DANGER: Risk of severe burns and damage to the barbecue when operating the
side burner with the lid closed
If the side burner is operated when the lid is closed, it will be heated so severely that it
will become damaged and there is also a significant risk of burning by touching the lid.
A particular danger is that a gas flame is often difficult to see due to its blue colouring,
particularly in bright sunlight. Therefore it is possible for the lid to be closed accidentally
while the gas flame is still burning.
For your own safety:
Only ignite the side burner when you need it.

Immediately afterwards place your cookware on the burner.

Disconnect the gas supply before removing your cookware.

CAUTION
Only use cookware (pots or pans) on the side burner that has been approved for use on
gas cooking appliances. Cookware that is unsuitable for gas appliances may be damaged.
The size of the cookware used must be suited to that of the side burner. The cookware
must be able to stand securely on the side burner.
1. Open the side burner lid.
Stay as far away from the side burner as possible during the next steps.

LANDMANN 21

A3
B

2. Press the flame regulator (A3) and turn it anti-clockwise to the

"High" setting.
3. Press the ignition button (B) immediately and keep it depressed for
approx. 5 seconds.

Clicking noises indicate that the igniter is firing up.

If the gas in the burner does not ignite within the 5 seconds,
turn the flame regulator (A3) back to "OFF", wait 5 minutes
and then repeat steps 2 and 3.
Alternatively you can also ignite the side burner from above by using a match. If you are doing this it is imperative
you use the match holder located in the cart. Without this you may burn yourself. Keep as far away from the burner as
possible. Hold the match holder and lit match close to the side burner. Then press the appropriate flame regulator (A3)
and turn it anti-clockwise to the "High" setting.
4. Turn the flame regulator (A3) to the desired heat setting (flame size), place a pot or pan that is approved for gas cooking
appliances on the side burner and heat up your food.
To switch off the side burner (extinguish the flame) press and turn the flame regulator (A3) clockwise to "OFF".

Using rotisserie

22 LANDMANN

DANGER: Electric shock resulting in death

The electric motor of the rotisserie is operated by a 230 V voltage supply. There is a risk of
electric shock if the following safety instructions are not observed.
For your own safety:
The electrical connection and the requisite safeguards must be carried out in
accordance with the local regulations of the EVU or the VDE as appropriate.

Only insert the mains plug of the motor into an earthed and properly installed 230
V socket.
When establishing the connection make sure that the connecting cable does not
come into contact with hot parts of the barbecue or any kind of moisture (e.g. puddles) and that nobody can trip over the cable. Protect the connecting cable from
heat, oil and sharp edges.
To increase safety we recommend installing an FI switch with a current leakage of a
maximum of 30 mA between the socket and mains plug. Check that the FI switch is
functioning before each use.
The length of the connecting cable may only be increased using an H05VV-F or
H05RN-F extension cable. The coupling of the extension cable must be protected
from splashing water, be made from rubber or be rubber-coated.
If the connecting cable is damaged, it must not be plugged into the electric socket.
Do not attempt to repair the connecting cable yourself but rather entrust this to a
specialised electrician. The same applies to any extension cables used.
Protect the motor from moisture. Unplug the mains plug immediately if it starts to
rain.
Never touch the mains plug with wet hands!
When using the rotisserie burner pay attention to the following
Never use the rotisserie burner together with the main burners, as the extreme heat
generated will cause damage to the barbecue.
Always remove the warming rack before using the rotisserie burner, otherwise it
will become damaged by the heat.
If you want to grill larger quantities of food on the rotisserie, it may be necessary to
remove the grill.
Do not overload the rotisserie with too much meat (max. 5 kg). This can cause damage to the rotisserie, the rotisserie mount and the electric motor.
Before you insert or remove the rotisserie, extinguish the flames on all burners
(turn all flame regulators to "Off") and turn off the motor. Otherwise you may burn
or injure yourself on the rotating, sharp-edged skewer.

LANDMANN 23

1. Check to make sure the four flame regulators of the main burners (A1,
A2) are set to "OFF". The rotisserie burner should not be used together
with the main burners.

2. Pull the electric motor (C) forwards up to the stop.

3. Push one of the meat clamps onto the skewer (D) (spikes point inwards
towards the meat), then the meat (as near to the centre as possible) and
then the other meat clamp (spikes point inwards towards the meat).
Align everything to the centre, push the meat clamps into the meat and
tighten the screws of the meat clamps.
4. Insert the marked end of the skewer into the hole on the motor and rest
the other end of the skewer on the seating on the right side of the grill.
5. Connect the mains cable of the motor to a 230 V socket (while observing the safety instructions on the previous page), turn the switch on the
motor to "ON" and check to ensure the skewer rotates evenly; otherwise
reposition the meat.

6. Press the flame regulator (A4) and turn it anti-clockwise to the "High"
setting.

A4
B

7. Press the ignition button (B) immediately and keep it depressed for approx. 5 seconds. Clicking noises indicate that the igniter is firing up.
If the gas in the rotisserie burner does not ignite within the 5
seconds, turn the flame regulator (A4) back to "OFF", wait 5 minutes and then repeat steps 6 and 7.

Alternatively you can also ignite the rotisserie by using a match. If you are doing this it is imperative you use the match
holder located in the cart. Without this you may burn yourself. Keep as far away from the burner as possible. Hold the
match holder with a lit match close to the rotisserie burner. Then press the appropriate flame regulator (A4) and turn it
anti-clockwise to the "High" setting.
8. Turn the flame regulator (A4) to the desired heat setting.
Open the hood from time to time while using the rotisserie burner to prevent the barbecue from becoming damaged by the extremely high heat generated.
To switch off the rotisserie burner (extinguish the flame) press and turn the flame regulator (A4) clockwise to
"OFF". Afterwards remove the food and push the motor to the back in order to protect it from becoming soiled.

Switching off the barbecue

1. Close the cylinder valve on the gas cylinder (turn G1 clockwise).
2. Turn all flame regulators (A) to "OFF".
3. Wait until all of the parts have cooled down and then clean any soiled components.
4. Close the covers
5. If the barbecue is not going to be used for a prolonged period:
Disconnect the gas cylinder (see chapter "Disconnecting the gas cylinder").
Store the barbecue in a dry place.

Cleaning
Barbecue
General
To ensure your barbecue serves you well for many years to come, it should be cleaned after each use with washing-up liquid,
a brush and a cloth - ensure that all parts have cooled down first. This will be much harder to do later, once the soiling has
dried.

Caution "Spark plug on burner can be bent"

The spark plug on the burner can be bent or may snap off during cleaning.
Possible consequences:
Burner no longer lights.
Safety measures:

Take special care when cleaning the area around the burner.

Stainless steel parts

You can clean stainless steel appliances by using a standard stainless steel cleaning agent. Always wipe in the direction of
the polish lines on the part.
Grease collection tray
The substance in the grease collection tray must be replaced if it is soiled, damp, or clumpy. Otherwise it may be ignited by
dripping fat. Replace it with a 10 mm layer of clean, absorbent, non-flammable material, which can absorb the dripping fat
(e.g. dry, loose, and clean sand). Never use flammable materials such as sawdust, cat litter or other similar substances.
Infrared burner
Caution: Infrared burners should not come into contact with water.
The infrared burner can be damaged if it comes into contact with water.
Procedure for cleaning infrared burner:

After each use the infrared burner should be left on "High" without any food on it in
order to burn off any dripped fat or food particles.
After the grill has cooled down carefully vacuum the remaining particles away.

Gas system
Any parts through which gas is passed may only be cleaned by a gas specialist. Never dismantle the adjusting
element!

LANDMANN 25

Maintenance
The barbecue is maintenance free. Nevertheless, you should check it at regular intervals. The intervals depend on how often
the barbecue is used and the environmental conditions to which it is exposed.

Barbecue

Check to ensure that all parts of the barbecue are present and assembled (visual check).
Check to ensure that all connections are present and securely fastened. Tighten if necessary.

Gas system
The gas system needs to be checked every time a gas cylinder is connected (see chapter "Connecting and disconnecting the
gas cylinder").
DANGER: Risk of fire caused by blocked burners
Insects can block the burners.
Possible consequences:
Fire on the adjusting elements behind the front panel
Damage to the barbecue
Safety measures:

Check the burners after a prolonged period of non-use, but at least once a year, for
signs of blockages.
If you detect signs of flashback at the adjusting element, turn the gas cylinder
valve clockwise immediately as far as its stop (gas off position) to disconnect
the supply of gas.

If necessary, make sure you replace the gas hose to comply with national requirements.

Environmental information and disposal measures

Residual substance
DANGER: Risk of fire when disposing of the hot residual substance
Only dispose of the residual substances when they have fully cooled down and only then
in the designated metal containers. Observe the local regulations.
Barbecue
Pay attention to cleanliness when handling the barbecue.
To dispose of the barbecue properly, disassemble it into its individual parts. Recycle the metal and plastic components.
Observe the local regulations.
